Exciting news! The Request for Partnership for our Australian Grasslands Initiative is now open! Today’s complex communities of rangeland grasses have evolved to dominate much of the Australian continent. Distinctive characteristics of a broad selection of grasses selected from diverse ecosystems throughout Australia will be revealed by applying the principles and technologies of biogeography, phenotyping, biochemistry, molecular genetics and evolutionary biology, thereby providing new insights into adaptation and traits that can inform conservation programs, agriculture and the national heritage. We are now calling for a Request for Partnership from the community to generate omics data that would enhance the aims and goals of the Australian Grasslands Initiative in understanding Biogeography, Ecophysiology and phenotyping, Biochemistry and proteomics, Transcriptomics and proteomics, Genomics, Bioinformatics and Seed properties. All the details for the Request for Partnership are here: https://lnkd.in/gNtqWTF5 The last day to apply is COB Friday, 31st January, 2025.

🐠 The Australian Fish Genomics Initiative has now opened its 2024 Request for Partnership 🐠 Bioplatforms Australia and Minderoo Foundation are investing in the generation of referential molecular data to advance knowledge of Australia’s fish species and support critical research and management strategies. The Initiative, in collaboration with the marine and freshwater research communities, aims to generate essential data for researchers and practitioners to accelerate the knowledge about Australia's fishes and to enhance our understanding of evolutionary relationships, adaptive potential, population structure and dynamics, and best conservation management strategies. The Initiative will support question-driven projects on Australian marine and freshwater fish species, where data serves immediate and future research needs. The initiative will support projects seeking to generate: - Reference genomes - long read sequencing (PacBio HiFi - ONT), Hi-C, transcriptomics (Illumina) 🐡 - Population genomics – whole genome sequencing (Illumina short read sequencing) 🐟 Proteomics and metabolomics are also available where they complement the genomic resources and enhance outcomes. Complete information on the program and request for partnership, along with details on the application process (online form for application) can be found on the initiative website through the link below. ✍ The requests submission deadline is COB Friday 06 December 2024 📅 Parties interested in participating in the Australian Fish Genomics Initiative RFP are encouraged to get in contact with the Australian Fish Genomics Initiative Program Manager. https://lnkd.in/ge6hJ6Ak

We have been exploring the fascinating world of fungi genomics with our Fungi Bioinformatics Workshop using Galaxy Australia! 🍄 💻 Over the past 3 days, Benjamin Schwessinger (Australian National University), Alistair McTaggart (Psymbiotika Lab) and the team from Galaxy Australia (Australian BioCommons) took participants from across Bioplatforms Australia’s National Initiatives – Functional Fungi and Plant Pathogens – through a whirlwind tour, exploring powerful bioinformatics tools and workflows using the Galaxy Australia platform. The hands-on training hosted at ANU was attended by 38 participants from SMEs, governmental and research organisations, universities and community groups. It has been a fantastic opportunity for all to enhance bioinformatic skills, share knowledge, and connect with fellow researchers passionate about fungal genomics. We warmly thank all the participants for their keen engagement and making this workshop a success! 🍄🔬 #bioinformatics #training #fungi #GalaxyAustralia #genomics #ANU #research #infrastructure #NCRISimpact #BioplatformsAustralia #AustralianBioCommons
