#JobAlert: NIF Radiochemist, University of Sydney Sydney Imaging, who hosts The University of Sydney’s National Imaging Facility (NIF) node, is currently seeking a NIF Radiochemist who will be responsible for managing and directing all services related to radiochemistry activities associated with Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging research. Sydney Imaging currently has a radiochemistry facility at Brain and Mind Centre (Camperdown) and is developing a new facility at Royal North Shore Hospital (St Leonards). #NCRISImpact: NIF's Herston Imaging Research Facility is helping advance brain stimulation therapy for major depression, supporting QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute researchers and the Queensland Neurostimulation Centre. The research team, led by Dr Luca Cocchi, have developed an AI tool to personalise transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy, to accurately predict which patients will benefit most. This innovation aims to enhance treatment effectiveness, reduce unnecessary procedures, and improve access for those in need. #ICRI2024: We were priveleged to host representatives of the Group of Senior Officials on Global Research Infrastructures and the Australian Government Department of Education at our Queensland Node at the Centre for Advanced Imaging this week. The Queensland NIF Node integrates two imaging facilities, providing a translational pathway from discovery to preclinical testing through to first-in-human studies and clinical trials. The University of Queensland’s Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI) at the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology AIBN offers preclinical, human imaging, and radiopharmaceutical capabilities. CAI connects basic research with better treatments and new therapies, housing a cyclotron for radiopharmaceutical production. It also supports imaging of agricultural and construction materials. The Herston Imaging Research Facility (HIRF) is a partnership of UQ, QUT (Queensland University of Technology), and Queensland Health’s Metro North Health. Located at the Herston Health Precinct, it provides access to large patient cohorts and certified radiochemistry facilities for PET radiotracers. ---------------------------------- NIF is part of the Australian Government Department of Education's National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy. 💡 Incubator Update For the past 12 months, the Australian Access Federation Ltd (AAF) has been working in partnership with the National Imaging Facility (NIF) to understand and overcome the challenges of managing access to data and software for operating complex imaging-enabled research, with the goal of enabling faster access and putting simpler control in the right hands. This incubator is the first step in our partnership aimed at addressing the priorities of NIF users, helping them to capture and manage imaging research data, and making that data a National Asset. We are currently in the build phase of a proof of concept/minimal viable product which will be a single point of access control to reduce the overhead of research administration.
