🏭 The AIBN is home to Australia's biggest network of National Collaborative Research Infrastructure (NCRIS) facilities – and this week we got to show them off to some special guests. Our researchers had the pleasure of hosting members of the Group of Senior Officials (GSO) on Global Research Infrastructures for a tour of the building, providing a look at the extensive range of equipment and capabilities we have under our roof. Along for the tour with our deputy director (research) Professor Kristofer Thurecht was Josephine Church, Dr Carthage Smith, Grace Campbell, and Imraan Patel, who were in town for the GSO’s 16th meeting. Guests were given a look at six of our fantastic NCRIS projects, including facilities supported by the National Imaging Facility, Microscopy Australia, ANFF Queensland, Therapeutic Innovation Australia, Phenomics Australia, and Bioplatforms Australia. 🌍 The GSO on Research Infrastructures is a working group under the G7 that serves the shared policy goals of its member countries in ensuring that world class research infrastructures are available to promote high quality research. Thanks for stopping by!

Pipeline Accelerator 2024-25 (Round 1) successful recipients announced Phenomics Australia in partnership with Therapeutic Innovation Australia (TIA), and the National Deuteration Facility (NDF) (ANSTO), is thrilled to announce the successful recipients of the Pipeline Accelerator 2024-25 (Round 1). ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gjYRye-R Supported through the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) program, this initiative helps address the medical products challenge outlined in the 2021 National Research Infrastructure Roadmap. Together, Phenomics Australia, TIA, and NDF provide academic researchers and SMEs access to world-class Australian translational medical research infrastructure, spanning the molecular basis of health and disease to clinical trials. This round, 37 projects will share a total of $1,263,387 in voucher awards with a total cash co-investment fund of $1,316,674, facilitating access to national research infrastructure (NRI) to accelerate therapeutic translation and improve human health. Supported research areas include kidney, heart, cancer, and infectious diseases. These vouchers will subsidise a maximum of $50,000 of the total cost to access these translation NRIs. Eleven recipients were awarded with the Phenomics Australia Pipeline Accelerator 2024-25 (Round 1) and are listed here (https://lnkd.in/gjYRye-R). Among the recipients, we would like to highlight Dr Aude Dorison, PhD’s (Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI))’s project on screening for new treatments for glomerular disease with a new stem cell reporter line. This project is jointly supported by the Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell Derivation & CRISPR Gene Editing Facility (MCRI) (Phenomics Australia) and Drug Discovery Facility (TIA). Notably, several recipients are continuing their journey with us – a testament to its impact and value in advancing therapeutic research. For instance, Dr Denny Cottle from Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute (Monash University) has previously received support from TIA and in this round is receiving support from Phenomics Australia, highlighting the sustained value of these initiatives. #NCRISImpact Australian Government Department of Education
