OBJECTIVES of the Civil Engineering Department

1 To sustain quality faculty members and develop them academically, technically, professionally, and holistically;

3. To sustain the acquisition and development of appropriate laboratory and other support facilities including related equipment,
programs, and services;

4. To sustain, expand, and further develop quality, relevant, and responsive curriculum in civil engineering;

5. To sustain endeavor towards the simplification of bureaucracy ensuring prompt availability of research funds;

6. To explore, expand, and develop civil engineering and related researches which are relevant to the MINSUPALA Region as well as
the Philippines and the ASEAN;

7. To explore, sustain, expand, and develop linkages with local and foreign agencies;

8. To conduct and sustain the appraisal and development of research potentials and local resources;

9. To have sustainable access to existing as well as new technologies;

10. To conduct seminars, workshops, symposia, lectures, and projects geared towards the application, and adaptation of new
technologies; and

11. To conduct relevant extension services within the bounds of the service area and concern of the University.

Course Description

Fundamentals of geology applied to civil engineering problems. Topics include rock


and minerals types, soil properties, rock mechanics, geologic structures, active tectonics and
earthquake hazards, slope stability and landslides, groundwater, rivers and flood hazards.
Team projects include engineering geology case studies and site assessment investigations.

By the time of graduation, the students who finish the program will have:

7. COURSE EVALUATION
At the end of the semester (ideally the meeting prior to the final exam), a course evaluation sheet shall be
given to the students for the evaluation of the course. This may also be given together with or after the
administration of the Teacher Efficiency Rating.

8. COURSE POLICY
1. Take home assignments shall be received by the instructor not latter than the due date otherwise 5
points shall be deducted on the first day and 2 points per day thereafter up to the date the
assignment is received by the instructor.
2. Absences shall not exceed 20% of total semestral contact hours otherwise the student shall be
dropped at the option of the instructor.
3. Student has to take the examination as scheduled. No special examination shall be given unless
with valid reason/s such as illness to be supported with medical certificates, noted by the Institute
clinic and approved by the dean of the college.
4. Missed Examination will be given zero score in computation of grade.
