Body

Body structure
The body of the Golf SV has been completely redesigned. It is based on the modular transverse matrix (MQB)
platform. Using the same approach as the MQB platform, a lightweight design was consistently implemented
throughout the body shell.
The variable length of the floor panels in the modular transverse matrix means the wheelbase is 50 mm longer
than the Golf 2013. en AG. V

Lock carrier and radiator blind

The front lock carrier has two possible designs. The position of the radiator module determines which one is used.
There is a difference between a front or rear radiator position. Due to space requirements, the front radiator
module is installed in the case of larger engines and when increased cooling output is required for hot countries or
for trailer mode.
The Golf SV BlueMotion has a radiator blind built in between the bumper cover and the radiator module. Due to
space requirements, vehicles with an ACC sensor (sensor for adaptive cruise control) do not have a radiator blind
built in.
The radiator blind is bolted to a special impact bar for installation. The radiator blind for the Golf SV BlueMotion is
built into the front radiator module.
The disconnection point for the electrical connection of the radiator blind is located on the left underneath the lock
carrier.

The radiator blind closes:

• When the vehicle is parked

• When the combustion engine is warming up
• When there is a sufficient volume of air in the upper part of the radiator module

The radiator blind opens:

• At a low vehicle speed, as the aerodynamic advantage is not effective.

• When the radiator fans are in operation
• For component protection when critical temperatures are reached in the engine compartment
• At high climate loads
• For diesel particulate filter regeneration

S536_046

A new feature of the Golf SV is the optional ergoActive seat for the front seats, with 14-way adjustment, 4-way
electric lumbar support and a massage function.
This seat version does not have folding tray tables on the backrests or a folding function for the backrests.

16
Rear seat system
Thanks to the extended wheelbase and the larger rear overhang, the Golf SV offers more passenger compartment
space than the Golf Plus.

The rear bench seat has a 60/40 division and the rear seat backrest can be folded in the ratio 40/20/40.

The two-part seat padding is locked into place in the seat frame retainers. The seat frame for the rear bench seat is
securely bolted to the underbody. Both parts of the rear bench seat can be individually moved forward by 18 cm.

The rear seat backrests can be released via retaining straps on the backrest frame. These retaining straps can also
be used to adjust the inclination of the rear seat backrests. If the centre rear seat backrest needs to be released
separately, this is done via a button on the top edge of the rear seat backrest.

For transporting long objects, both the rear seat

Rear end
Compared to the Golf Plus, the Golf SV has a significantly wider rear window. This ensures optimum all-round
visibility and clear lines. The rear window is framed by the roof spoiler with side spoilers (flaps). The side spoilers
are bonded directly to the rear lid.

The two-part tail lights are underneath the window. Their design means they form an aerodynamic break-off edge.

The rear lid is opened using the pivoted Volkswagen badge. The reversing camera (Rear Assist) can be optionally
installed there. AG. Volkswagen A n G do

SV. It can be equipped with a standard running gear, a sports running gear, a heavy-duty running gear or
adaptive chassis control (DCC).

Running gear

• McPherson suspension strut front axle

• Four-link rear axle or torsion beam rear axle
(depending on the engine)
• Electromechanical parking brake (EPB)
• Electromechanical power steering
• Continental MK 100 anti-lock braking system/

Rear Traffic Alert
Rear Traffic Alert warns you of approaching vehicles when reversing out of a parked position.
The radar sensors measure the distance and the speed difference between your vehicle and an approaching
object and use this to calculate the time until a possible collision (“Time to Collision”).

The tail lights (more precisely the tail light cluster, i.e. the tail and brake lights, the turn signals as well as the
reversing lights) are all designed with conventional bulb technology.

The two lens areas for tail and brake lights in the fixed lighting section, as well as for the tail light in the rear lid
section, are each illuminated by a single bulb. The high-level brake light is designed with LED technology and
features 16 LEDs.

When the luggage compartment is opened, the lights in the rear lid are switched off. The additional brake light, in
contrast, continues to operate.

The towing bracket features a steady plus cable (pin 9) and a charging cable (pin 10).
The interior lighting for a trailer can be operated via the steady plus cable, for example. The requirements for this
are:

• The trailer plug is connected

• Energy management authorisation (no energy-critical condition)

Electrical equipment (e.g. a refrigerator) can be operated via the charging cable. The maximum load for the
charging cable is 12 A. The requirements for this are:

• The trailer plug is connected

• Engine is on
• Energy management authorisation (no energy-critical condition)

Both cables are controlled by the trailer detector control unit J345 and do not require an additional relay. The data
bus diagnostic interface J533 monitors the vehicle electrical system voltage (energy management). If the vehicle
electrical system voltage is too low, the supply voltage for both cables is switched on.
