Course Title Seminars & Fieldtrip
Course Credits 1 unit
CSC 139, Seminars & Fieldtrip obviously are an essential part of some areas of study such as ICT, science and history. Could you imagine
someone training adequately to become an archaeologist without going out into the field to participate in the nuts-and-bolts activities of excavating
an actual historical site?
However, we should recognize that field trips really are essential to the educational experience at all levels and in all manner of coursework.
On a practical level, some lessons can only be learned beyond or outside of the classroom. The field trip and seminars provide students with
experiences that cannot be duplicated in the school but are nonetheless an integral part of school instruction.
Course Description
Field trips and seminars engage students in studies beyond what would be the case in a classroom or lecture hall setting. In other words,
students are more captivated by first-hand encounters with the subject matter, which facilitates learning. Students who go on field trips become
more motivated to learn and also it can boost a student's confidence, allowing a child to experiment or experience educational opportunities is a
safe and fun environment that will in turn boost learning. Students will be motivated to learn in new ways, and this improves the retention and
understanding of facts. The intimate interaction with learning that field trips allow can inspire students to consider career paths.
