We love a campaign that demonstrates understanding of its audience, addresses a real problem, and executes a simple concept succinctly.👌 Our lovely client Carers UK recently launched a campaign called This Counts as Care. It aims to reduce by half the time it takes for people to identify themselves as unpaid carers. 💡 Created in conjunction with creative agency MullenLowe Global, the TV campaign is inspired by research that shows many people don't consider caring for a loved one or a family member as care. That subtle but significant shift in a relationship, from simply caring to being a carer, depended on physically or mentally, is often too gradual to notice until months or years have passed. Hence the burning need to spread awareness. 🔥 This is a strong example of a campaign that pinpoints an issue unique to its intended audience, one that many would not have otherwise considered. In just two sentences and a few short vignettes, it conveys an meaningful message that is sure to make people reflect. 🤔 #charity #campaign #charitymarketing #marketing #care

What makes good alt text? And what makes a good charity campaign? In my latest post (see comments), I talk about this campaign for RNIB and why it captures pretty much everything you're *not* supposed to do with alt text. To me, it's surprising RNIB ran with it. I also look more broadly at the challenge of charity advertising after years of corporate purpose. "How do you stand out in a landscape where commercial brands have planted their flags so firmly on tear-jerking stories, emotional poetry, social causes and timelapse birth-to-death dramas?" I think ad agencies have a valuable role to play, but it's a tough sector where many factors and audiences have to be taken into account. You can't just cut and paste the purpose playbook back onto charities, because the stakes are higher and the sensitivities are greater. #purpose #brandpurpose #thoughtsonwriting #theroadtohell

In a world where small actions can lead to significant change, charity stands as a pillar of hope and transformation. Giving back doesn’t require a grand gesture—sometimes, the simplest acts make the biggest impact. Why does charity matter? Charitable efforts have positively changed millions of lives around the world. From feeding the hungry to providing shelter for the homeless, each step taken makes a ripple of hope. How can YOU get involved? Here are some simple ways to make a difference: Volunteer your time: Whether at a local shelter or food bank, your presence can make a real impact. Donate to trusted causes: Contributions, whether financial or material, help charities support those in need. Raise awareness: Use your platform to highlight causes you care about. Start your campaign: Rally your community and friends to join in making a difference. The power of charity lies not just in what we give but in how it changes both the giver and the receiver. This is an awesome campaign from our client Michael Bailey and here's why Firstly, there's genuine alignment. Michael and his colleagues work with people who have the good fortune to have a place of their own, and recognise that not everyone enjoys the same privilege. Supporting a charity that works with homeless people who are sleeping rough is the perfect way to 'give back', not quite squaring the circle but a good attempt all the same. Secondly, 'Cause Based Marketing' as it's often referred to can be very powerful (provided it's done authentically and with good intentions). If people are presented with a clear choice between a business that is acting as a force for good and one that is simply acting in its own interests, all other things being equal (price, service, quality etc) a lot of them will pick the former over the latter. And, thirdly, it's going to make an actual difference. At this time of year, it's not uncommon to see businesses producing videos set to jingly music, portraying themselves as being at the heart of their communities, or providing the odd gift to a charity raffle, but it's mostly just self-promotional content put forward to create the impression of doing good*. If Michael's campaign succeeds, he'll raise £600 that the Foxton Centre will be able to make go a long way when it comes to making the festive season more bearable for those who won't be waking up to a cosy home on Christmas morning. Yes, there's something in it for Michael and his business, of course there is. But here's how you can tell it's genuine: even if people who book their seller's advice meetings that trigger the donations don't go ahead and list with him (which is where his business stands to benefit commercially) he's still making the donations anyway. And guess what else? By making sure the Foxton Centre gets prominent mentions in all his ads and social posts, he's also raising awareness of the charity and its cause without it costing them a penny. Businesses of LinkedIn: there's a lot you can learn from this 👍 *This isn't a criticism, it's an observation. I think it happens because they want to be part of something bigger than themselves, but haven't quite figured out what that looks like. #CauseBasedMarketing #BrandMarketing #Charity

One of the things we love doing: uniting businesses with causes ❤️ Oh, and then dreaming up and executing campaigns like this! Estate agent + homeless charity is a winning combination for all the reasons Lee mentions. If you're a business that would like to explore Cause Based Marketing with us (we'll even find appropriate charities.and pair you with them) just ask, we'd love to help 👍 #BrandMarketing #CauseBasedMarketing #Charity

I've had a good week and am feeling generous —2 free branded posts for Volunteer Week, anyone? If volunteers support you, please ask yourself: → Do we show them enough appreciation? → Are we building a community? Donating to charity, whether it's money, time, or otherwise, is not selfless. Sure, it helps us DO good and that alone can be enough, but it also makes us FEEL good and proud. So if you don't contribute to your supporters' feel-good motivations and drivers (and I hate to be the bearer of bad news), they might leave... Next week is Volunteer Week. And I urge you to post about it on your socials. Cheer on your volunteers, whether it's a general shoutout or to key people who consistently drive you forward. I know your day-to-day is probably busy. But showing your volunteers appreciation will likely keep them with you and support you for longer. And both parties will feel so much better about the relationship. To offer my support, I'll choose 2 charities that contact me here, and I'll give you 2 branded posts for Volunteer Week at no charge. Whether you want them generic or specific is up to you - I'm here to serve 🙏 🎯 Want a chance to win? ↳ Comment or DM me 'Volunteer week' ↳ I'll give you an answer tomorrow (Friday) Feel free to share with anyone you think would be interested! --- 📷 From a gorgeous walk in Cairns, Australia. #volunteerweek #volunteering #charity #socialmedia #appreciation
