From our January report on transit accessibility: Congestion pricing "is expected to generate $15 billion...so essential to delivering the remaining station accessibility improvements to which the agency has committed. In addition to the critical resources it will provide to the MTA, CBDTP will reduce traffic blocking bus and paratransit customers, and improve air quality for New Yorkers." Essential accessibility, efficiency, and livability measures hinge on CP. https://lnkd.in/eXV35j_a

For the past two years, I’ve been incredibly proud to be part of the Accelerating Accessibility Coalition—a unique community of real estate, accessibility, and civic leaders united in the mission to significantly increase the supply of homes that are livable and visitable for people of all ages and abilities. Last week, during our Year 2 AGM, we unveiled a very special video project called "A Tale of Two Homes" that I had the honour of working on alongside my partner in crime Linda Weichel. Today, I’m thrilled to share it publicly! This video highlights: ✨ The barriers created by the vast majority of new condos and apartments for people with disabilities and aging Canadians. ✨ The simple, cost-effective design solutions that make homes more habitable and visitable. ✨ The profound impact these changes can have on countless lives. Produced by ULI Toronto and The Daniels Corporation, with videographer Nathan Sizemore and Confound Films, this project was made possible through collaboration with StopGap Foundation and AccessNow, featuring the voices of Luke Anderson, Neisha Mitchell, Kate Chung, Doug Buck, and Jacob Cohen. A special thank you to the National Housing Strategy under the NHS Demonstrations Initiative for funding this important work. https://lnkd.in/g8gNC2cU https://lnkd.in/gp6my367 Let’s continue building a future where accessibility is the standard, not the exception. #AcceleratingAccessibilityCoalition #AAC #Accessibility #AccessibleHousing #TheDanielsCorporation #DanielsLife #NationalHousingStrategy

Essential services millions of people with disabilities rely on are in jeopardy right now. Medicaid funds 75% of disability services. Next year, Congress will consider budget cuts that will deeply affect lives in every community. 692,000 people with disabilities are already waiting for services. Imagine how many more families will be left waiting—or denied care altogether—if these cuts go through. We need immediate action, including: • More money for programs that allow people with disabilities to live at home, without having to wait years to get the help they need. • Paid leave for all, so workers don’t have to risk losing their jobs when taking time off to care for a loved one. • Better pay for direct care workers, who perform a critical job but don’t earn a living wage. Please sign the petition below. Thanks. #CareCantWait action.thearc.org

Everyone deserves access to green spaces. Transportation represents one of the biggest barriers to time in nature. In rural and urban communities alike, individuals without cars or living in neighborhoods lacking public transit simply cannot reach the public lands and spaces that were established for all Americans to enjoy. The Transit to Trails Act would tackle this disparity by establishing a grant program to fund accessible transportation systems in areas of the country with the highest need so that access to public lands is more equitable and convenient for all. This bill: • Prioritizes low-or zero-emissions vehicles; • Prioritizes projects that provide free and discounted rates for low-income riders; and • Ensures that all funded transportation connectors and routes are accessible to people with disabilities. We need more Congressional champions to throw their support behind this important legislation. Take action today and urge your members of Congress to co-sponsor the Transit to Trails Act. https://lnkd.in/g4gJHX9u REI #gtoutside #takeaction #greenspace
