At StopGap Foundation, we bring people together to take practical steps to make spaces more accessible. Our mission is to help communities discover the benefit of barrier-free spaces and provide support to create them with a vision to create a world where every person can access every space.
We are all about building community through advocacy, awareness raising, education, volunteerism, and actually removing physical barriers through providing locations with custom temporary access ramps. We curate engaging programs for corporate groups and schools, and offer volunteer opportunities for Canadians in communities all over the country.
Here's what we do:
Awareness Campaigns: Through workshops, talks, and social media outreach, we educate the public about the importance of accessibility and inclusivity.
Ramps: We partner with builders, volunteers, local businesses and building owners, and community groups to construct simple, cost-effective ramps for single stepped locations.
Advocacy: We work with policymakers, urban planners, developers, business and building owners to promote policies and practices that prioritize accessibility and inclusive design.
Resources and Support: We provide valuable resources and guidance for individuals and organizations looking to improve accessibility. From best practices to practical advice, we are a go-to source for making change.
Since our inception, StopGap Foundation has removed thousands of barriers and transformed countless lives by enabling greater independence and participation.
We believe that creating a more accessible world requires collective effort. Volunteer, donate, advocate, or partner with us to help eliminate barriers and build a more inclusive society for everyone. Together, we can ensure that accessibility is not an afterthought but a fundamental right. Follow us here to stay updated on our latest projects, events, and initiatives.
