Kaizen is something that YOU practice each and every day. Kaizen is a mindset and a way of being. Kaizen is about having the self-discipline to improve yourself for the better. It’s about creating the HABITS that make it part of who you are. And through improving ourselves and focusing on how to make change for the better that all of us can then improve processes, help others improve, get those business results our organizations needs... and improve the world! And it starts with ourselves. 𝙄 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 – 𝙚𝙢𝙗𝙤𝙙𝙮 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙠𝙖𝙞𝙯𝙚𝙣 𝙗𝙮 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙫𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛-𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚. Katie, I find the greatest pleasure comes from giving people the understanding and skills to enable them to improve their own processes, any other problem areas and themselves. Great example of the teach people to fish story. Takes a little longer to get started, but then you can accelerate. Our people must understand that they are the essential key links in our chain of learning and for creating competitive advantage. I like to tell them they are the experts at doing their own job; and automatically qualify as 'Black Braces.' You can have all your coloured belts. I just want my black braces people. You can see these amazing folk on YouTube, under 'Sid's Heroes'. This was one of a series of six programmes we made with the BBC in 1993.

Here is the link to Sid’s Heroes. These are ordinary working class (blue collar) people from the old East Lancashire mill town of Rawtenstall. This happened in 1994/95 before everyone became experts on Lean. I relate to this so well, I worked with Sid in 1989 on a similar programme in a large manufacturing company in Leeds, we, all of the people, achieved amazing results. https://youtu.be/Uh2bnyNIcwI?si=xIuj4QEVxxf62E4z
