22 mins. That's the longest standing-ovation ever recorded in history...and it was given to a Major League baseball player. It wasn't just any major leaguer, but hall of famer, Cal Ripken Jr. Cal received a 22 minute (aired & commercial free) standing-ovation in the middle of what to many people probably seemed like any other regular season ball game. It wasn't a rivalry, post-season, the world series, or a retirement game. Nothing seemingly special about that game. So why did he receive such an incredible honor after the 5th inning of this game? It wasn't because he had hit the most home runs, broke a hitting streak record, or stole a certain number of bases, or anything close to that. The reason he received a 22 minute standing ovation on Sept. 6th, 1995 was because of....consistency. That game marked his 2,131st consecutive game he played. For over 2,131 games, Cal never missed a single one. Not for an illness, an injury, an emergency, self-care day, or a tummy ache. He would go on to set the record at 2,632 consecutive games played before ending his streak on his terms. The longest recorded standing ovation in history wasn't given to someone for skill, or bravery, or speed, or power....but it was given for consistency. This might be the most difficult record for anyone to ever break, considering you'd have to play for over 16 years without missing a single game, and in a tik tok world where people's attention spans don't last more than 30 seconds, that seems impossible (props to you who've read this far btw lol). True success isn't built on short cuts or getting rich quick schemes; it's built on consistency. Do the right things in the right way every single day. It's going to take longer than 6 months, 2 years, or even 5 years to be where you want to be. It's going to take consistency.

PGA Professionals and military Veterans are playing 100 holes of golf on one of the longest days of the year to raise funds and awareness for local veterans and PGA REACH Minnesota Foundation. Why are we doing this? PGA REACH Minnesota Foundation and its Partners are pledging to ensure that our local veterans have the resources and tools they need to overcome life’s adversities and improve their physical, mental, emotional and social well-being. It is a fact that suicide is a major issue among military veterans, with recent studies showing that 22 veterans a day commit suicide. We aim to showcase how golf provides a therapeutic rehabilitation for veterans and is readily available to all veterans with physical, emotional and PTSD challenges. How is this benefiting veterans? Proceeds from the event will benefit PGA REACH Minnesota, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation and its flagship program PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere). • PGA HOPE programming is fully funded by PGA REACH and offered at no cost for military veterans. • PGA HOPE uses golf taught by PGA Professionals as a therapeutic modality to help rehabilitate our nation’s heroes. • PGA HOPE has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Veterans Affairs, which enables Recreational Therapists to refer Veterans to the PGA HOPE program as a form of therapy. • The Department of Veterans Affairs research and clinical experience verify that physical activity is important to maintaining good health, speeding recovery and improving overall quality of life. For many injured Veterans, adaptive sports provide their first exposure to physical activity after injury. What is the PGA HOPE Program? • A PGA HOPE Program consists of a six to eight-week golf program led by trained PGA Professionals that provides Veterans with golf instruction, course access, and adaptive equipment if needed. Minnesota Section. Ways to donate: • Pledge: visit www.100holesforhope.com and pledge to a specific golfer by making a per birdie donation or flat donation. Donors may also donate to the general event fund. • FAQ’s for donors • When will my card be charged? We won’t have a final tally of birdies until after the event is complete. If you’ve made a per birdie pledge, please allow us time to calculate the amount owed for each donor, based on the number of birdies made. Donors will be sent an invoice following the event and have the option to complete a credit card payment online or send a check to our office. If you selected a flat donation, a check can be sent to the Minnesota PGA office any time before or after the event. Flat donations made online via credit card will be charged that same day. • Is my donation tax deductible? Yes! Once your payment is received you will receive a receiptfrom PGA REACH with all necessary tax deduction information.

Are your powersports vendors operating in compliance with your state laws? Violating state franchise laws can result in significant financial penalties, and the fines can add up quickly. Imagine a daily fine of $10,000 not just for each day, but for every infraction at each dealer in a state. This could easily escalate to millions of dollars per day for major brands with numerous dealers. Franchise laws, often crafted with the influence of auto dealer associations, protect both auto and powersports dealers. For example, in Texas, the motor vehicle commission can impose fines up to $10,000 per day per violation if a vendor fails to comply with the statutes. This emphasizes the importance for dealers to be aware of and enforce these laws to avoid hefty penalties. Dealers should understand that vendors might not always willingly comply with local statutes, often using the dealer's lack of knowledge to their advantage. Only a small percentage of dealers are familiar with the specific laws in their states. For instance, the Texas Automobile Dealers Association has already notified several vendors of non-compliance. While some vendors seek solutions, others are slow to respond, risking substantial fines and potential loss of their retail licenses. The TMDA prefers collaborative solutions, but if vendors do not act promptly, formal complaints and significant penalties are imminent. This situation is not unique to Texas; many states have similar statutes and enforcement mechanisms, underscoring the necessity for vendors to comply promptly to avoid severe repercussions.
