WARNING TO EVERY AUTOMOTIVE DEALER GROUP in North America. CDK Global news again for all the wrong reasons. Tekion Corp has joined a growing list of competitors, suppliers, and dealers suing and winning lawsuits (settling out of court = win :) against the legacy DMS provider. Why? FEAR, ARROGANCE, UNETHICAL, UNPROFESSIONAL, UNCOMPETITIVE, "SORE LOSER" on the part of CDK Global. Impeding Asbury Automotive Group's transition to Tekion Corp's far superior product was adjudicated in court already. CDK lost. DATA IS THE DEALERS. CDK Global Leadership....tell me I'm wrong. I've been wrong before :) Would love to hear from you. "If Asbury wanted all of its data in the manner it desired, it needed to switch to the status of a customer in Transition Assistance to another DMS, CDK said. This meant forgoing perks such as flat pricing under its current arrangement, it said". NOTE....YOU LOST THAT COURT CASE. ABSURD....."Customer in Transition Assistance?", "Perks?" from a company providing substandard product, unreasonable charges, poor customer service, and more for decades. WE KNOW from direct experience. Tekion Corp CEO/Founder Jay Vijayan - “They’ve been doing this on an ongoing basis, which forced us to stand up to them for anticompetitive practices,” Vijayan said. “Not just for us but for our dealers as well. It is dealers’ data, but [CDK has] been holding it hostage.” Other dealer groups involved with CDK's blockage of data transfer includes Doral Automotive Group, Regal Automotive, Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall, as well as over a dozen California-based dealerships that currently use CDK DMS with plans to go live in 2025. General Motors claims the #chevybolt will be the cheapest #EV in 2025. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Can they beat BYD and Kia Worldwide in a price war? #Ultium or their problematic #evbattery is back on this discussion, which is either a plus or a minus. If they can make it in volume with no warranty issues, they reduce cost by 20% vs. buying your pack from a tier like now. When you look at the legacy model, they’re 70% tier, whereas Tesla is 70% direct. That’s a substantial cost savings. NIO and GEELY mimic the Tesla path in China with castings from IDRA GROUP and less tier-made parts. This, plus China and Korea's dominance in the market, makes this goal for #GM a considerable hill to climb, but I applaud 👏 the team for trying. A DUOPOLY and more...how about the Tekion Corp alternative? CDK's future is in jeopardy. Both CDK Global and The Reynolds and Reynolds Company have settled class action anti-trust cases. There is also the PENDING $395M lawsuit (https://lnkd.in/gErDRUCp) from software vendors accusing CDK of violating antitrust law by suppressing competition. Expect similar from Reynolds dealers in the near future. CDK will pay $100M while in 2018 Reynolds settled for $30M. CDK and Reynolds both denied the claims and did not admit wrongdoing in the settlement :) :) They got off easy, after decades of over-charging and operating as a duopoly. There is also the outstanding issue of compensation to dealers affected by the recent cyberattack and Asbury Automotive Group (August 2024) suing CDK for disrupting their transition to Tekion Corp (industry leader in technology and ethics). Note....."The plaintiffs' lawyers said they would seek up to 33% of the combined settlement funds from CDK and Reynolds for legal fees, or about $34 million". The next move for all CDK and Reynolds dealers? Lyft and Smartcar Partner to Tackle the Top Pain Point for EV Drivers — Range Anxiety Smartcar, the leading API platform for mobility businesses, today announced a partnership with Lyft, one of the largest transportation networks in North America, to tackle range anxiety and help EV drivers accept rides with confidence. Lyft’s ‘Rides in Range’ feature ensures EV drivers only receive ride requests within their current battery range. It’s now available for EV drivers on the platform with a 20-mile buffer on an EV’s battery range to accommodate different driving styles or route obstacles. With EV battery level data retrieved via Smartcar, Rides in Range can also alert drivers to charge after completing a trip if their battery level is expected to fall below 20 percent.
