Wow!!!!
For starters the only one that is losing out if you don't watch or listen to the Car Dealership Guy podcasts is yourself.
They just keep getting better and better!
This one is with Randy Parker, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, which is just incredible that he's on the episode and just how awesome they both were in their discussion!
One thing though that really resonated with me personally.
I've been keeping an eye on Hyundai the last few years and have been really impressed with what I've been seeing.
The thing Randy Parker said though that really impressed me was that he kept making a HUGE distinction between Marketing AND Advertising.
Most people I've come across at the Executive level at Dealerships and Auto Groups don't seem to understand that they are in fact separate things... but they are connected.
If they are balanced correctly, then they work really well and cost less money.
As far as the quote from the Geek Squad of "Marketing is the price you pay for being unremarkable", my thoughts are that if you aren't doing something to set yourself apart from the crowd then you better have a big budget to push the narrative that you aren't the same as the rest... but word of mouth works both in good and bad ways, and eventually the actions not matching the words will catch up to you and it's going to cost you a lot more in the long run.
If your actions do match your words, then word of mouth works wonders, and that costs you nothing at all.
The Car Dealership Guy podcast continues to impress with insightful conversations like the one with Randy Parker.
The distinction between marketing and advertising is a crucial one, and businesses would do well to understand and balance both. Authenticity and consistency are key to building a strong brand, and word-of-mouth endorsement is a powerful tool.
Let's keep pushing the boundaries of innovation and excellence, and remember that remarkable actions speak louder than words!
