To wrap up our Summer Internship Spotlight Series, we would like to highlight Aarya Padhye, a junior concentrating in Marketing & Strategy with a minor in UX Design. Aarya spent the summer with Lionsgate and Starz as a Growth Marketing Intern! Here is what she has to say about the experience: What drew you to this company? "I’ve always been passionate about the entertainment industry and storytelling to uplift marginalized voices — STARZ brings both of those passions together for me. What stood out to me most was the company’s focus on making entertainment a diverse place both behind and in front of the camera! The chance to be able to be a part of a dynamic and supportive team was exciting for me, and I knew that the environment at STARZ would align with and bolster my professional goals." What has been the most rewarding part of your experience? "It’s been so exciting getting hands-on experiences with the inner workings of the entertainment industry, while also expanding my knowledge about product marketing. I love that every day looks different in the office: from collaborating cross-functionally with different channels, sitting in on creative reviews with agencies, and conducting competitor analysis for UX research, I’ve been able to understand the day-to-day responsibilities of the Growth Marketing team. The most rewarding part about my internship has been launching ad campaigns on social media, and analyzing their data to see conversions into subscribers on our platform. Everyone I’ve had the opportunity to work with has been so supportive, and I’ve been able to take away a new lesson from every individual I’ve spoken with!" How did DSP aid in your internship journey? Is there a brother you are specifically grateful for because of their help? "DSP gave me the toolbox of skills that I needed to succeed in recruiting. Whether it's doing mock interviews, giving recruiting advice, or reviewing resumes, there are always so many brothers who are willing to drop everything and help you out. Without DSP, I wouldn’t have been familiar with the recruitment process for marketing and entertainment, and would not have been able to explore my other interests within business. Also, a special shoutout to Tayla Jankowski! She has been such a support system throughout recruitment — whether that’s reviewing my resume, answering all my questions, giving me networking advice, and so much more." So cool, Aarya! We are so proud of you! 💛 To hear more about our brothers' internship experiences, we will be hosting our professional panel on September 18th from 6:00-8:00 PM in Robertson Auditorium. We hope to see you there! 💼

Happy First Day of Class! 💛 It's been so much fun catching up with the brotherhood and hearing about each other's exciting summer experiences. Sofia Espinosa, for example, spent the summer interning in Merchandise Planning at Bloomingdale's where she gained valuable insights into the fashion industry! Here's what she has to say about the experience: What was the most rewarding part of your experience? "The most rewarding part of my experience has to be the sheer amount of learning I get to do every day. Each person I interact with on a day-to-day basis is so open to answering any questions I have relating to their career and the retail industry as a whole. I also get to use the knowledge I've learned in my business classes and apply that to an industry that really excites me." How did DSP aid in your internship journey? Is there a brother you are specifically grateful for because of their help? "DSP paved my entire internship journey. I absolutely would not have thought it possible to explore a role that wasn't investment banking or consulting without the inspiration and support from the brotherhood. Current and graduated brothers gave me loads of advice on who to talk to, where to look, and how to carry myself in a professional setting; I know for a fact I wouldn't have this opportunity if it weren't for the amazing people in DSP." How exciting Sofia! We are so proud of you. 💛

Today, we're excited to spotlight Chrishan Villavarayan, a rising sophomore who gained valuable experience as a Discovery 1 Intern at Deloitte this summer! 🌟 What drew you to this company? "I was drawn to Deloitte because of the large amount of resources and knowledge that they possessed being a top firm, and I wanted to take advantage of all the opportunities they provided. Over my summer there, I also found that the real value of Deloitte is the people who go out of their way to help you access and understand those resources because they genuinely care about you and your career." What has been the most rewarding part of your experience? "Working with my fellow DSP brother Rosbel Lebron and getting to know the other people in my office!" How did DSP aid in your internship journey? "DSP was instrumental to my success within the application process for this internship. Not only did brothers send me the application, they also helped me fine tune my resume and practice for the interview. After I was accepted into the internship, I also used the DSP alumni data base to contact alumni at Deloitte which has helped me meet so many incredible alumni and attend various events I wouldn’t have otherwise been able to. I even work with a DSP brother! I cannot put into words how much of a help DSP was for this internship." Congrats Chrishan! We are so proud of you.

Next up on our internship spotlight series is rising senior Caroline Rutigliano!💛🌟 This summer, Caroline worked as a Consumer Insights and Brand Marketing Intern at Sanofi. Let's see what she was up to: What drew you to this company? "Sanofi is a company that uses its resources and size to make the world a better place, which is something I’ve been so lucky to be a part of. Even throughout the interview process, I felt excited about the opportunity to be a part of a team that works to make a real change and to better the lives of the people around us. I also was drawn to working with brands we know and love - now, I can definitely say that it’s super exciting to see that products you’re working with on the shelf at your local pharmacy. Consumer healthcare is such an innovative and exciting industry, and I knew that Sanofi was a place where I would be challenged but also inspired." What has been the most rewarding part of your experience? "The most rewarding part of my experience thus far has been volunteering with my fellow interns on Sanofi’s Intern Volunteer Day. It has been clear to me since I joined the company how important corporate social responsibility is at Sanofi, which is something I definitely value as an intern. I love that Sanofi encourages their employees to take advantage of volunteering opportunities with the firm and finds ways to make volunteering accessible for everyone. On my intern volunteer day, we partnered with Rise Against Hunger and packaged over 7,500 meals for those facing hunger in the Philippines. It was a super rewarding day and something I will carry with me beyond this internship and into my career!" How did DSP aid in your internship journey? Is there a brother you are specifically grateful for because of their help? "DSP has been so helpful in my internship journey, whether it be interview prep with my brothers, getting advice about all sorts of career paths, or simply finding a shoulder to lean on when times get stressful. Cooper Schrag has been so helpful with preparing me for interviews and answering my questions, and Tiffany Li has always been there to support me and be a listening ear when needed. I’m so grateful for both of these brothers and everyone in DSP who has helped me throughout this journey!" Congrats Caroline! We couldn't be more proud.

"What attracted me to UBS was the seamless integration of the firm's various divisions. UBS Investment Bank, Asset Management, Global Wealth Management, and Personal & Corporate Banking work collaboratively under one firm. As I am early in my career, I wanted to gain broad exposure to multiple areas of finance to help me determine my future focus." What has been the most rewarding part of your experience so far? Today we wanted to highlight rising senior, Tayla Jankowski!💛 Tayla is an Operations Management Consulting Intern at PwC. What drew you to this company? "PwC not only has a strong reputation as a global leader in both professional services and their commitment to innovation, but has made strides to consistently showcase that their priority is excellence for both their clients and their people ~ something that resonated with my personal values. PwC's emphasis on challenging yourself to not only find the best solution, but to continue learning and developing your own skillset aligns with my own desire to grow my abilities and further my career. In addition, I was drawn to the sheer number of individuals here committed to furthering my career and developing me as a professional, with numerous formal and informal resources provided throughout your time with PwC. PwC's commitment to their community, and developing an environment that motivates those within it gives me the confidence that this is the perfect platform to further my knowledge and skillset." What has been the most rewarding part of your experience? "During the internship, I had the opportunity to work on a short term engagement with one of our long-standing clients, giving me the perfect opportunity to immerse myself in the rich client relationship while taking ownership of various parts of the workstream ~ challenging myself to leverage skills I had not used before while having the support of an entire project team behind me. Throughout my project I had the chance to speak directly with various stakeholders from the client, and was even trusted with presenting certain parts of our project and sharing my insights and recommendations. Having this opportunity so early on in my career, especially as an intern, not only spoke volumes about the values of PwC, but allowed me the chance to challenge myself and grow my confidence in areas like presenting, data analysis, and more." How did DSP aid in your internship journey? Is there a brother you are specifically grateful for because of their help? "The support system I have found within DSP is unparalleled to any other organization on campus, with individuals willing to dedicate countless hours supporting me through interview preparation, resume reviews and researching opportunities that best align with what I want for my future. If not for DSP, not only do I think I wouldn't have been prepared for the recruiting process and how to prioritize my time in the role, but I would not have had the confidence in myself to know that I could achieve what I have been able to throughout college. I want to especially shoutout DSP Alums Raymond Kim and George Kolarchick, who have gone above and beyond to help me through this process and instill their confidence in me ~ I am forever grateful to both of them." So cool Tayla! We cannot wait to see all of the amazing things you do.

Next up on our Summer Internship Spotlight Series is rising junior Sanya Gupta, who is concentrating in Finance with a minor in Quantitative Methods in the Social Sciences. This summer, Sanya is working for CC Industries as a Growth Equity & Sustainability Intern! Let's learn more about her role: What drew you to this company? "I always knew I wanted to work for a smaller firm doing a different role this summer than I would be next summer, and when a DSP alum reached out I knew it was the exact place I wanted to work! CC Industries is a family office and I could tell through some calls and my first couple interviews that the culture was so unique." What has been the most rewarding part of your experience? "The most rewarding part of my journey has been getting to build fundamental finance and investing skills working with sustainable companies. I have learned an immense amount about the environmental state of the world, and talk to inventors and CEOS who have created some incredible technologies and solutions that can address that. As an intern, I have even had the opportunity to source potential clients for the firm! Throughout the summer I have been working on identifying emerging industries in sustainability investing and finding companies that fit the mission of my team, and am starting the introduction process. The work is something I have never thought I would be able to do, and learning from these entrepreneurs about sustainability and finance has been the most rewarding opportunity." How did DSP aid in your internship journey? Is there a brother you are specifically grateful for because of their help? "Being a part of the DSP network helped me land the internship! A 2016 alum, Courtney Hoyt, who works on another investing group at the company reached out and informed us about internship opportunities and was super helpful to me during the recruiting process." How exciting! We are so proud of you Sanya.

Today, we're thrilled to kick off the 2024 DSP Summer Internship Spotlight Series! 🌟 Stay tuned as we celebrate our incredible brothers and their impressive achievements this summer! 💼✨ To kick off this series, we would like to highlight our very own rising senior Jaden Douglas! Jaden is a BTU Rise and Media Intern at Black Theatre United and TodayTix Group (TTG). Let's see what Jaden has to say about his experience so far: What drew you to this company? "Broadway! After two summers of consulting, I felt myself yearning for an opportunity in the entertainment industry. Joining TodayTix and BTU, I knew that I could leave the summer with a greater understanding of possible careers that align more closely with my interests in business and entertainment. And, of course, I must mention how fun it has been to experience all that NYC has to offer!" What has been the most rewarding part of your experience? "Seeing Broadway shows, visiting companies, and attending industry workshops! Prior to this summer, if you asked me what comprised Broadway, I could only give you three answers: actors, producers, and directors. However, BTU and TodayTix opened my world, exposing me to other important Broadway departments and roles such as revenue management, creative direction, ticketing strategy, general manager and much more." How did DSP aid in your internship journey? Is there a brother you are specifically grateful for because of their help? "Shout out Jason Donaven! While pledging in Winter 2023, Jason made sure I was fully prepared for entertainment recruiting by reviewing my resume, cover letter, and odyssey. He did not stop there, adding me to the BBA Entertainment Canvas while also taking the time during one of our meetings to fully break down how the entertainment recruiting timeline differs from other industries. After completing my interviews back in April, I could not be more thankful for how Jason prepared me to succeed!" Congrats Jaden! We are so proud of you and cannot wait to see all of the amazing things you do in the future.
