About us

BlackGen Capital Inc. is a premiere minority-owned investment fund led by talented students from chapters across the nation. We close the access gap by creating a pipeline for talented, underrepresented students interested in entering the financial services industry. Each chapter across the nation provides BlackGen Capital members with a standardized 10-week educational series, where students learn the fundamentals of finance. After receiving this thorough training, students across different schools have a unique opportunity to propose stock investment ideas to the national BlackGen Capital investment fund. Along with our education, our students have direct access to corporate sponsors and exclusive career opportunities. Feel free to contact us at [email protected]

PepsiCo Data Analytics & AI Associate Analyst | BlackGen Capital at NYU Co-Founder | Former PwC and Neuberger Berman Analyst | Recent NYU Alum

Reflecting on my incredible journey with BlackGen Capital, I am filled with immense gratitude and pride. Joining the co-founding class in the spring of 2022, we began our journey online, but our vision and determination were always strong. In just one semester, I had the honor of becoming the VP of Recruitment, and shortly after, I took up the mantle of Co-President of our NYU chapter, a role I proudly held until my recent graduation. One of the highlights of this journey was leading our NYU team to a first-place victory at the Jefferies Stock Pitch Conference last year. It was a testament to the hard work and dedication of every member involved. The experience was not just about winning but about the growth, learning, and camaraderie we shared as a chapter. After a year of preparation and a rigorous trial phase, I, along with my dedicated peers and e-board, successfully established BlackGen Capital NYU as an official NYU Stern School of Business ICC club in Spring 2024. This milestone signifies more than just recognition; it’s a step towards bridging the access gap and elevating our peers. Throughout the last two years of being founded, we were privileged to host events with companies like J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, Bloomberg, Warburg Pincus LLC, Neuberger Berman, Deloitte, PwC, and ModernGuild. These partnerships have enriched our experiences and expanded our horizons. Throughout this journey, I've been blessed with the guidance of incredible mentors, the support of amazing friends, and the opportunity to lead and inspire many talented members. I deeply resonate with BlackGen Capital's mission of closing the access gap and elevating peers, and I am excited to see the continued impact we will make in the finance community. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this truly unforgettable journey. #BlackGenCapital #NYU #Leadership #Finance #DataAnalytics #StockPitch #Mentorship #BlackProfessionals #LatinoLeaders #StudentLeadership #EquityAndInclusion #BridgingTheGap

  • On May 31st, BlackGen Capital hosted its 3rd Annual National Conference, which brought together over 140 of our talented members at the Warburg Pincus headquarters in New York City. We are immensely grateful to our esteemed speakers, panelists, and the representatives from Warburg Pincus, Centerview Partners, Vanguard, and JPMorgan Chase, who took the time to share their invaluable insights and experiences. Their contributions enriched the conference experience tremendously. The conference featured thought-provoking discussions, networking opportunities, a career fair, and a stock pitch competition where members showcased their analytical skills before a panel of accomplished judges. However, the true highlight was the incredible community of our members and the camaraderie that permeated throughout the event. We extend our sincere appreciation to all our members who participated with enthusiasm and made this conference a resounding success through their active engagement. Their commitment to personal and professional growth is truly inspiring. Our gratitude also goes out to the Warburg Pincus team who dedicated their time and efforts behind the scenes. Their unwavering commitment to our mission of closing the access gap in the finance industry is commendable. As the BlackGen Capital family continues to grow, we look forward to hosting many more such impactful events that foster learning, professional development, and a supportive network for our members.

Sophomore at the Ross School of Business

Three Fridays back, I had the privilege to attend the BlackGen Capital National Conference at Warburg Pincus LLC in New York City. I learned about advancing myself as a person of color in finance while building relationships with students and professionals alike. I was blown away by an impressive lineup of speakers who leveraged their experiences towards insight into making our mark in the industry. The conference culminated in a stock pitch competition between teams from excellent universities. After winning the qualifying competition at our chapter, my team: Benjamin King, Ryan Andrews, Asher Larco, and I was chosen to represent our school. We pitched IHS Holdings, a company that provides telecommunications solutions to developing economies. I am proud to say that my team secured first place for the University of Michigan! It was inspiring to watch my teammates deploy their financial expertise firsthand. But to be clear, this victory was a direct result of hard work and effective coordination. I want to thank Blake Dunkley, Jose Dasilva, Hector Benitez Ventura, and Sterling Cooke for their guidance throughout this journey, as well as the entire Michigan Chapter for their support along the way. I would also like to thank the National Board for organizing an outstanding conference, leaving analysts engaged and inspired for the year ahead. As I pursue my fellowship with Detroit Venture Partners this summer, I am excited for what is on the horizon! And as always, #GoBlue!

Last week I had the honor of speaking on a “Life in the Investment Bank” panel for the 2024 BlackGen Capital National Conference at the Warburg Pincus. I remember when I applied and was accepted into BlackGen Capital as a sophomore in college. I was excited and curious about what opportunities the financial industry had to offer and interested in hearing about the various career paths people chose. I’m so grateful that I had the opportunity to participate in this event and more importantly be a part of an organization whose ultimate mission is to work towards closing the access gap.
