💡 Wavecrest Scholars: Shaping the Future of Sustainability and Venture Building Wavemaker Partners recently hosted the 2nd batch of Wavecrest Scholars for an enriching job-shadowing experience! 🎓 Over two weeks, four talented Year 2 and Year 3 students from Nanyang Girls' High School, Raffles Institution and Catholic High School 公教中学 joined us to gain hands-on exposure to venture building. They worked closely with our Founder-in-Residence, Aik-Phong Ng, contributing to the development of his exciting new 100X100 Venture. 🤝 Collaborating with Venture Lead Ben Ong and Analysts Cheryl K. and Amanda Chen, the scholars spent a week with the Impact Fund team, exploring the risks and assumptions involved in launching a new business in Indonesia’s consumer and renewable energy sectors. 💬 “People are at the heart of everything we do at Wavemaker,” says Ben. “The Wavecrest job-shadowing programme is our way of giving back by nurturing the next generation of thinkers, leaders and pioneers. Don’t be deceived by their young age—their work rivals that of working professionals!” 🌟 We’re excited to see how the Wavecrest Scholars will shape a better world. If they choose to continue exploring Venture Building, we’d love to welcome them back as future interns at #WavemakerPartners. 📢 Learn more about the Wavecrest job-shadowing programme at https://Wavecrest.org or connect with Mia Ordoñez-Manlunas and Rachel Ng. 🌱 Turning Memories into Motivation: How Kawewat Drives Sustainability with #WavemakerImpact 🌍 Meet our #Thai Venture Analyst Kawewat Mayteesirasak, or “Top”. Top’s journey toward sustainability began with a deep sense of loss; he’d witnessed how urban sprawl encroached on nature, fading the beauty of the environment into mere memories captured in old photos. 📸 🌳 When Top realised how climate change was amplifying this erosion, his goals became clear: build businesses that don’t just drive profits, but create positive impact on the environment and communities. 🌏🤝 Joining #WavemakerImpact was a natural step in this journey. Top believes that businesses have a big role in solving environmental challenges, and #SoutheastAsia offers great potential as a hub for economic growth and #sustainability innovation. 💡 Wavemaker gives him the ideal platform to co-build successful #100x100 businesses with entrepreneurs, bringing the region closer to a #NetZero future. ♻ 💼 From the memories of a fading environment, Top finds the inspiration to create a brighter, greener future driven by impactful ventures. 🚀 Curious to know more about his journey and the ongoing venture he is building with our #WMi Founder-in-Residence Chatchanart Jiratornsirikul (JoeZ)? ☕ Have a coffee chat with Kawewat today! #ClimateTech #ClimateAction #ImpactInvesting #GreenerFuture #VentureBuilding #Entrepreneurship

By 2030, Southeast Asia is set to become the world's fourth-largest economy, with food consumption expected to grow 40% by 2050 🍽. But the region’s agri-food system remains fragile; fragmented smallholder farms, outdated farming practices, environmental degradation and volatility from climate change are all urgent challenges to address. To explore pathways forward, #WavemakerImpact partnered with the Centre for Impact Investing and Practices (CIIP) – a non-profit established by Temasek Trust – with support from Philanthropy Asia Alliance, to publish “Seeding the Future: Transforming Smallholder Farms for a Sustainable Tomorrow” 📖. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gyfMV43d Drawing from 26 interviews with solution providers, investors and corporates, the report demonstrates how Wavemaker Impact’s Carbon Maps can identify high-impact opportunities for emission reduction. It also includes over 15 case studies of how forward-thinking practitioners – 4 of which are Wavemaker Partners portcos (Rize, RegenX, Agros, FoodMap) – are effecting meaningful transformation across the region today. Key takeaways from the report include: 💡 Solutions must be right-sized, right-priced and targeted well. 💡 Impact should be core to all investing decisions. 💡 Agriculture, food, and land use sectors need more funding. 💡 Cross-sector collaborations are crucial to break the cycle. 🌟 Are you an entrepreneur passionate about transforming Southeast Asia’s agriculture?
