Celebrity Celebrity Relationships Celebrity Breakups Anna Faris Doesn't Know If She Still Believes in Marriage After Chris Pratt Split After two divorces, Faris said she doesn't know if she'd be willing to walk down the aisle again By Jodi Guglielmi Jodi Guglielmi Writer-Reporter, PEOPLE People Editorial Guidelines Published on March 26, 2018 11:11AM EDT Anna Faris has mixed feelings when it comes to marriage. The actress opened up about her views on the tradition while speaking to Dax Shepard for the latest episode of his podcast Armchair Expert. “I need to figure out what the purpose is,” she said of the decision to marry. “Is it safety for your children? Is it convention? Is it so other people respect your relationship more?” After two divorces, Faris said she doesn’t know if she’d be willing to walk down the aisle again. “For me, I’m just not quite sure where it fits,” she added. “I am a romantic. I believe in a partnership, I believe in companionship. I just don’t know if I believe in a ceremony of a wedding.” Faris, 41, and Chris Pratt announced the end of their 8-year marriage last August. The actress was also previously married to Ben Indra from 2004 to 2008. “Anna and I are sad to announce we are legally separating. We tried hard for a long time, and we’re really disappointed,” Faris and Pratt said in a joint statement issued by the Jurassic World actor on Aug. 6. They added, “Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another.” After the announcement, fans of the couple quickly took to social media to express their disappointment in their split — something Faris said was hard to deal with. Kevin Winter/Getty Images “Chris and I did talk about [it],” she told Shepard. “We got, like on the Twitter feed, ‘Love is dead.’ “ Faris admitted to Shepard that before their split, she found it “rewarding” when people admired her relationship with Pratt based on their sweet social media posts to each other. But the Mom actress added that their social media presence didn’t always tell the full story. “We obviously cultivated something and it was rewarding for a while,” she said. “It was like ‘People seem to think we got all this s— right.’ “ Faris continued: “I had a little bit of a childish feeling of ‘Oh come on, f——- grow up’ — a little bit of anger,” she said of fan reactions to their split. “But that’s not fair either because I cultivated it. We intentionally cultivated this idea of like ‘Look at this beautiful family.’ There were so many moments that were like that but like anything on social media, you don’t post [the bad stuff].” Moving forward, Faris said she and Pratt have nothing but love for one another. “We had an unbelievable marriage and we have a great friendship now, we love our son to death,” she said. “I’m really proud of that.” Close
