Will showing the prices of your products during Black Week increase performance of your ads? Or should you focus on other things in your designs? Well, Catalog Ads that showed prices during Black Week 2023 had a 62%(!) higher Return On Ad Spend. Compared to other Catalog Ads that didn't show prices during Black Week 2023. 62% better ROAS. (and outside Black Week, it's also better, but "only" 41% better) Showing prices will probably increase your ROAS a lot during Black Week. People are more likely to buy (and also buy a lot) when they can see your prices directly in the ad. And the Catalog Ad above from Currys is a great example of this. I know all the information I need to know, to make a buying decision. In urgent shopping periods like this, it's information I need to buy. And if I don't like this specific product, I don't have to click to figure out, I can just scroll by. Interestingly enough, the Click Through Rate is 24% worse than Catalog Ads that didn't show prices. (normally CTR is 16% worse when showing prices) So if you want people to buy, not necessarily click, prices is a great thing to test out ✌️ - for the nerds: Data is based on 269M impressions and $2.3M ad spend during Black Week 2023. Data is across 300 ecommerce advertisers all over the world, using 1.6k different designs in the time period. All the Catalog Ads in the study were designed with Confect.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 (excerpted from a longer post in our Facebook group)   Ads have never been a marketing tool that provides instant results. The Facebook algorithm (which we now call an AI, even though it’s really not) is watching who clicks your ad and who scrolls on by. During those first few days it tunes who it shows your ad to and builds a custom audience for your ad. This is called the “learning phase”.   Depending on your ad account’s history and how often you’ve advertised to similar audiences, this could take anywhere from 1 to 7 days.    Facebook also does not always show when an ad is in the learning phase. Given how we’ve seen the new Advantage+ Targeting work in recent months, we think it periodically flips into learning phase without notice.  At The Writing Wives, we run and manage hundreds of ads each week. We see that wide targeted ads beat ads with interests set about 20% of the time. For the other 80%, ads with detailed targeting interests out-perform.   We test these styles of ads against each other a dozen times a week.  Now, there’s a reason why wide-targeted ads are so often beaten by ads with detailed targeting set.  That reason is patience.  I’ve always said that if you can’t afford to burn $150 with no return on investment, then you don’t have the money to start running Facebook ads—because you can’t afford the testing and tuning period.  Now, you might think that spending that sort of money to learn what works is unreasonable but consider who the Facebook advertising platform is really made for: medium to large businesses.   These companies often have advertising budgets over a million dollars a year.   This is why the system does not work for authors in such a way that we can spin up ads and have them instantly work: it’s just not built for that at our ad spend because the system is designed to learn through more impressions and more results than we can typically garner in just a few days.  Hence, patience.    To read the full post and get more details, make sure you join our Facebook group! https://lnkd.in/eXRHm8Pr

How I'd leverage digital channels for a new DTC brand: ➤ Google Ads Before setting up one of your most important channels, conduct in-depth keyword research, looking for ToFu, MoFu, and BoFu keywords that match your ideal customer profile. Once that's done, pick 5-10 keyword groups, a mix of phrases related to the buyer's journey. Regardless of your budget, let's start small and build as you go. Focus is critical—introduce specific landing pages, blog pages, advertorials, etc., where you can experiment. This way, you're trying to find out what works ASAP and what your audience likes. If you're running on a tight budget, there is even more reason to be hyper-targeted. You should aim to generate conversions as soon as possible so Google can start learning. ➤ Bing Ads If you have a winning strategy at Google, Bing ads can be a bit of a nothingburger, so why not import it into Bing and hit go? Of course, CPAS are usually lower! ➤ Social Meta is becoming a far easier channel to manage. They've moved from more specific audience targeting to broad. The creative finds the audience rather than you finding the audience—let Meta do the work. They know their users a little… A good way to find winning paid creative is to post a ton of creative on organic and leverage the winners into a full-blown paid campaign.
