Banyuwangi is known as the rice granary of Java Island, Indonesia—the world’s most populous island. Among the smallholder farmers cultivating rice in Banyuwangi is Pak Rusli, a smallholder farmer who has embraced a more environmentally friendly approach using PPAI™ Technology. At the start of the planting season, his rice field faced a pest infestation. While many farmers might typically use more pesticides to control pests, Pak Rusli took a different approach. By using Reductant Technology, he effectively managed pest populations with a reduced amount of pesticide. This not only reduced pesticide costs but also kept it effective in pest control. Pesticide Reductant is just one of nine key components integrated into PPAI™ Technology. Farmers like Pak Rusli receive ongoing support from #PAIoneers to adopt Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and cultivate sustainable farming practices.
