Did you know that palm oil wasn’t originally grown in Southeast Asia? In 3000 BC, it didn’t even exist here. Yet today, Indonesia and Malaysia produce 90% of the world’s palm oil! And here’s another fun fact: palm oil doesn’t come from a tree! It’s actually a massive herb. This article shares even more fascinating insights about palm oil and its anatomy. OASE Water Technology - Taicang, China The solution, fast treatment against foul smells Water analysis pointed towards treatment using SchlixX. The product binds phosphates into an insoluble and environmentally neutral mineral called apatite, thereby reducing the supply of nutrients. It also releases oxygen, which stimulates the microorganisms in the water to break down organic materials. To provide targeted treatment for individual areas, the lake was divided into five sections from A to E. The first attempted treatment began in March 2021 – but had to be interrupted due to simultaneous restoration work on the bank of the lake. This restoration work caused a considerable amount of additional nutrient input, which temporarily worsened the water quality even further and led to an algae bloom in February 2022. However, this unfortunate course of events did not prevent the OASE experts from continuing to treat the water – this time, in a more appropriate setting: Only area E of the lake would now be treated to combat algae growth by phosphate binding and to remove the sludge using SchlixX, since this segment is only connected to the rest of the lake by a five metre wide channel and therefore offers a stable working environment. Palm oil mill effluent (POME) is known for its high organic content, which can easily overwhelm anaerobic lagoons, impacting treatment efficiency and requiring periodic sludge removal. A recent Kampung Pon, Indonesia case highlighted this challenge: a palm oil mill plant faced capacity issues in its lagoon due to accumulated sludge. To tackle this, the plant applied Microbe-Lift, a powerful microbial solution to boost biological degradation in anaerobic lagoons. Microbe-Lift features a diverse consortium of aerobes, facultative anaerobes, strict anaerobes, and photosynthetic bacteria. This unique blend effectively breaks down complex organic matter in POME, enhancing overall treatment efficiency. Additionally, Microbe-Lift helps mitigate odor problems by degrading sulfur compounds responsible for foul smells. By harnessing the strengths of each microbial group, this solution not only improves treatment processes but also addresses odor issues, leading to a cleaner and more efficient operation. #EnvironmentalManagement #Wastewater #PalmOil #WasteTreatment #MicrobialSolutions #SustainablePractices #POME #Bioaugmentation #CleanTech #Remediation

Pancake analog for organic matter porosity development. Effective organic matter pores develop in residual oil/bitumen (secondary organic matter) retained in the mineral pores of source rocks as the secondary organic matter is thermally altered to solid bitumen. Pores in the viscous pancake batter begin to develop as gas bubbles during heating. As the viscous batter (bitumen/oil) solidifies with continued heating the pores are preserved.

A better replanting rate of older oil palm areas can increase Malaysia's annual palm oil output by 2.5 million tonnes, Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said. He has raised concern about the low rate of replanting by independent smallholders, who number about 450,000 and have 1.5 million hectares under cultivation. "Our replanting has dropped significantly. Based on industry standards, we should replant 4-5 per cent, but our national average is only about 1.8 per cent," he told reporters here. Increasing the replanting rate to industry standards will add more than 2.5 million tonnes to the total palm oil production, he said. Johari said Malaysia was working on a number of initiatives such as greater focus on research and development, more replanting and consolidation of smallholdings to grow output. Malaysia produced 18.6 million tonnes of palm oil in 2023 compared with about 20 million tonnes a decade ago. https://lnkd.in/g_ajtt8j

Calcium hydroxide (traditionally called slaked lime) is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula Ca(OH)2. It is a colorless crystal or white powder and is obtained when calcium oxide (called lime or quicklime) is mixed, or slaked with water. It has many names including hydrated lime, caustic lime, builders' lime, slack lime, cal, or pickling lime. Calcium hydroxide is used in many applications, including food preparation, where it has been identified as E number E526. Limewater is the common name for a saturated solution of calcium hydroxide. #Температура #Жара #Град

The Indonesian government continues to enhance the production of key commodities such as paddy and palm oil. However, this effort is also focused on managing agro-industrial waste. Annually, Indonesia generates over 10 tons of paddy husk from milling and two million tons of boiler ash from palm oil mills. These by-products are now being converted into economic biosilica (biosílice). Biosilica has kinds of application potential, such as, as fertilziers, pesticide, functional textile, substituting chrome in skin tannery, and even as the alternative to bone substitution graft material in dentistry. paddy and palm oil absorbed and had silica in big numbers. That is why the increasing production and wastes should be processed to get more economical values to minimize environmental and social potential issues because of the piling wastes.
