🎉 I am very excited because today I received notification that my organization SaveClimate. Earth won first place in the REMARKABLE Climate Leaders Neutrality Solutions Contest🏆. Entries were judged on 💡 innovation 💡 impact 💡 practicality 💡 feasibility 💡 relevance and our solution won 🤩. It is an accolade for the ECO climate currency and the idea of introducing personal emissions budgets to all citizens. We are delighted that the ECO has been recognized as having the potential to drive the transition to a sustainable, climate-neutral future.🌱 ✅ As a result we can look forward to exclusive coaching and of course we hope that the ECO climate currency will become even more widely known and that we can further expand our network. The global micromobility market is expected to reach $340 billion by 2030, up from $160B in 2022, and Europe represents the highest share of that value at approx $140B in 2030, up from $60B in 2022 (ask Zag Daily, McKinsey & Company). (…)” Stephen T Asma, professor of philosophy and cofounder of the Research Group in Mind, Science and Culture at Columbia College Chicago We are bombarded each day with news of climate-related disasters and conflicts, and we are consuming more and more literature, movies, and television that envision a dystopian future.  In this difficult context, reclaiming imagination towards a better, more sustainable future is an essential act of care: care for self, care for others, and care for the world. For imagination to become “world-making”, other tools, which translate positive vision into reality are necessary. Transformative change does not fall from the sky, it is always engineered, politically, economically and socially. It is a story of trial and error, with many failed prototypes. When I was the executive director of the Institute of European Environmental Policy (IEEP), strangled by the straight-jacket of the everyday reality of policy-making at European level, I was challenged to my then member of the board and mentor, Domingo Beltran, to push the boundaries of what was possible, to ask the simple question: “What if?” While I knew that transformation required a completely different course of action, as a busy executive director, I did not have the bandwidth to try and answer this question. Having stepped down from my prior functions, I feel now ready to step up to the challenge given to me by my mentor by launching Pro(to)topia, a mission-driven consultancy, which aims at imagineering a green caring society. Together with our clients and partners from NGOs, public institutions and the private sector, my co-founder Eloise Bodin and I are creating care-positive visions of the future and identify strategies to bridge the gap with the everyday reality of policy-making, politics and organizations. Our services include policy-relevant research, strategic foresight, strategic and organisational development and stakeholder and citizen engagement. There is a serious issue with data reported by member states to the European Commission. Some countries still resisting #DRS are recurring to reporting fake data to the EU to continue with an underperforming system. Our latest study presented today in Madrid presents the Spanish case, probably the one with the most exaggerated figures in Europe, but we will be watching and doing similar work in other European countries. It is a shame that it has to be civil society who does a watchdog job which is responsibility of the public authorities. This is why, besides publishing this and preparing similar work in other countries we will reach out to the Spanish environment ministry and the European Commission to ask them to double-check any self-reported data from the industry. 25 years of fake data is enough! ##circulareconomy #plastic #ppwr #SUPD #plasticrecycling #reuse ##globalplastictreaty

Why or why do we have Climate Conferences in petrostates run by the fossil fuel companies, knowing very well their unapologetic roles in the climate crisis? Have they reformed themselves? No. COP28 was hosted by Abu Dhabi with the conference head being a senior executive of ADNOC - the state oil company. Now COP29 is being hosted by Azerbaijan, with the conference head being the natural resources minister (gas) who was a former executive of Socar, the state run oil and gas company. Socar and Azerbaijan are poised to massively expand their fossil fuel extraction, irrespective of hosting the conference. This is utter madness. In addition to that, Azerbaijan ethnically cleansed an ethnic Armenian enclave last year making 120,000 Armenans refugees and now in the process of appropriating their property and converting and/or erasing thousands of years of cultural artefacts.
