What sparked my 'lightbulb moment' about sustainability? #GreenerTogether #LinkedInNewsEurope I would say this has been a series of "ugly information." One set of info hit me at a side event at an annual startup ecosystem event (SLUSH). Another set of info hit me at a grand opening of a new building at Aalto University. Now, while the information presented was starkly valid and heartfelt, and it hit me between the eyes, I would say that the impact was mainly on reinforcing (our) at-home conservation. Why is that? Most likely, it is due to learned behavior. Most likely, it is due to the fact that neither my peers nor respected authority figures seemed to pay this any heed. This does not excuse my behavior; it only explains it. Therefore, it is imperative to keep banging the drum for the planet. The planet cannot do this on its own. And, by making even small adjustments, these adjustments can add up and compound. Then, if we all collectively make even minor adjustments, we will see change occur over time. We will set an example that our progeny will amplify.

It was an exciting opportunity to learn from experts about the pressing climate issues we face today. It is always rewarding to be in the room filled with passionate individuals eager to make a difference. The event offered valuable insights into the climate challenges faced by Vienna and urban environments, including: • 🔄 Circularity and Zero Waste • 🌿 Biodiversity and Urban Ecology • 🌡️ Climate Adaptation in Cities • 🏢 Buildings and Green Energy 💡𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐤𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲: While smart metering enables real-time energy monitoring in buildings, Vienna's progress in energy efficiency is hindered by the lack of hourly measuring, which limits insights into consumption patterns and inefficiencies. Additionally, the absence of strong legal incentives reduces motivation for users to adopt energy-efficient practices. This policy gap presents both a challenge and an opportunity for innovation in the coming years. 💡 Collaborative efforts among startups, policymakers, and established institutions will be essential for shaping Vienna's sustainable future. Why CSRHub? See our naming journey. Our journey to find the perfect name for CSRHub was as interesting as it was rewarding. We spent years considering various options, each with its own unique meaning and implications. Initially, we were drawn to "EkoHub," a combination of the Greek word "Oikos" (related to economy, ecology, and "home") and "Hub." This name reflected our desire to be at the center of the sustainability movement. However, as our understanding of our mission grew, we realized that "CSR" (Corporate Social Responsibility) better captured our commitment to helping corporations integrate sustainability into their core values and performance. We also wanted to emphasize our role as a central hub for sustainability knowledge and consensus. The "Hub" component of our name signifies our desire to bring together diverse stakeholders and frameworks to drive positive change. The process of choosing the right name was a valuable learning experience. It forced us to delve deep into our mission and values, and to articulate our vision for the future.
