Let's talk TSO-DSO Coordination 🙌 Coordination between Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and Distribution System Operators (DSOs) is vital for managing distributed flexibility and ensuring grid stability. Without it, reliance on traditional reserves and costly network upgrades will increase. What challenges does TSO-DSO coordination face? How can scalability and efficiency be improved? Could a new 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 unlock the full potential of flexibility? Magnus Energy's experts Daniel-Leon Schultis, Ksenia Tolstrup, and Gerard Doorman take you on board in their brief. It’s a wrap! Our team (Christiane STUT, Robert Gehrke, Valerie Reif) supported a dialogue between the German TSOs and their key stakeholders in the German electricity market, called the Strommarkt-Forum. 4 TSOs 10 panellists 1.306 participants all gathered in one livestream Christiane: “The Strommarkt-Forum was held for the fifth consecutive year and is known as THE industry event of the 4 TSOs. We’ve been involved in organising this dialogue from the start. And again, it proved a very effective way to engage stakeholders in the German power market to work on the future of energy together.” Robert: “The discussion led to some clear insights. Flexible energy markets require secure capacities. Electricity and grids must remain affordable. This can only be achieved through cooperation between politics, business and society. Balancing all these aspects is key for the energy transition.” In case you missed it, please find the full recordings here: https://lnkd.in/eVY8_Gx3 Thank you 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, Amprion GmbH, TenneT TSO GmbH, and TransnetBW GmbH for your trust in our team. And Kathrin Schickle-Berger from Strategie X GmbH and Frank Roller from Effer Media for your support! Interested in organising your own stakeholder dialogue? How can energy system modelling help people make better decisions? Technical expert Fei Wu shares some insightful examples. Fei: "Modelling-based advisory is necessary in navigating the energy transition. At the Delft University of Technology and ETH Zürich, I have contributed to a sector-coupled energy system optimisation model called Euro-Calliope. This model represents pan-European demand, supply, storage & transmission technologies in all sectors (industry, transport, heat, residential, power). Covering any spatial and temporal resolution too. It's very extensive." More details? Flex, flex, flex. Our expert Lisa-Marie Mohr participated in a panel discussion on investments in renewable organised by Energy Community in Ljublijana. And #flexibility still tops the agenda. Check out her takeaways below. Here to guide you ⤵️
Yesterday I had the pleasure of participating in the 2nd Conference on Advancing Renewable Investments of the Energy Community in Ljubljana 🇸🇮 Together with my fellow panellists, we discussed market dynamics and the importance of flexibility - some thoughts and take aways 💡 - Contracting Parties are accelerating RES deployment and progressing towards 2030 targets also leading to new flexibility needs in the systems 🌿 - Steps towards enhancing flexibility can be taken without the new EMDR being adopted in the EnC, starting from further developing wholesale and retail markets (price signals, market coupling) but also by increasing TSO-DSO and cross-border cooperation 🔄 🤝 - Considering the time needed to build new flexible assets, it is even more important to make use of existing measures; and to take action to enhance investments into flexible assets already now, for Contracting Parties to be equipped to satisfy (future) flexibility needs and avoid flexibility gaps 🚨 A panel discussion is of course not enough to exhaust the interesting matter of flexibility, so check out our primer on energy system flexibility and working paper on the flexibility needs assessment to get more info! 👇 https://lnkd.in/d3-KKAQ7 https://lnkd.in/dV73Bqim #EnergyCommunity #Flexibility #ElectricityMarkets #EnergyTransition #MagnusEnergy

Teamwork and learning came together during a recent in-house session with Energietalenten at our Magnus Energy headquarters in Naarden. We welcomed Master’s students from the Energietalenten programme. These students come from several universities and focus on energy-related studies. Balázs Riskutia delivered a masterclass on European Electricity Market Integration. He said: “It was inspiring to host such a passionate and knowledgeable group of students.” Marijn Meure and Julien Benoit introduced a case on the Capacity Calculation Process. The students tackled the challenge with teamwork and finished on time. Magnus Energy regularly organises guest lectures and workshops for students. Consultancy.eu, the platform for consultants and the consulting industry, interviewed our experts Iacopo Bertelli and Fei Wu about what it's like to work at Magnus Energy after obtaining a PhD. Fei: “Working on such important topics for the sector makes me feel tremendously motivated every morning when I wake up. It is just so much fun when you can be directly involved in the energy transition – something that I couldn’t do during my PhD time.” Iacopo: “The firm offers a really great mix of backgrounds: from engineering and hard sciences to law, economics, and political sciences. This mix really is quite unique from my perspective. Despite all our difference and cultures, relationships between colleagues are very close-knit.” Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/ejhfS8RD Did you know we're still hiring?
