Paving the Way for Stronger Power System Integration in South-East Europe. Today, as part of ENTSO-E 15th year anniversary event, the Transmission System Operators from the West Balkan Energy Community that are already members of the association — Elektromreža Srbije a.d. (Joint Stock Company Elektromreža Srbije), CGES - Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem AD, MEPSO A.D., NOSBiH and OST sh.a.-Operatori i Sistemit të Transmetimit, endorsed a historic Joint Declaration on Regional Coordination. This declaration was supported by all the interconnected European Union TSOs from South-East Europe, and has also been discussed with KOSTT who have been invited to adhere. This declaration, facilitated by ENTSO-E, outlines a new comprehensive cooperation framework for the West-Balkan TSOs within South-East Europe. All the concerned TSOs agree that this proposal is the best possible solution, that takes into account the needs and realities of all parts of South-East Europe, in accordance with European Union and Energy Community legislation. The proposal establishes the technical and market organisation in areas for the coordinated operation of the power system, and the trading and auction of electricity, by linking the West Balkan TSOs with the already organised areas of Central and South-East Europe. 🤝 Key outcomes include: 🔹 Strengthening electricity security and market integration. 🔹 Establishing new legal frameworks for seamless regional coordination. 🔹 Ensuring effective capacity allocation, congestion management, and revenue sharing. ENTSO-E believes in the common values of European electricity integration embodied by the cooperation of TSOs, and we are all confident that this proposal provides a realistic and shared path for the future of South-East Europe within the whole European power system.

One exciting event follows the next one this week 😀. Earlier the week the intercharge network conference 2024 and tomorrow we finally have the webinar about the grid situation in the Netherlands and potential solutions for charge point operators. I was eagerly awaiting this for a long time. The grid situation in the Netherlands is a great study case for what's to come in other European countries. And for FLEXECHARGE, it's great to be able to help our Dutch customers with technologies to overcome bottlenecks for charging infrastructure rollout, while at the same time learn for challenges yet to come in other countries. IMO Benjamin Richardson and Andrew Higier Ph.D. Built the single greatest capability multiplier in tech and it’s not talked about enough. Every year, I am looking forward to the Strommarktforum Amprion GmbH, TenneT, 50Hertz Transmission GmbH and TransnetBW GmbH and today was the day! Some of you know, why 😊 I am so excited about it! (Kathrin Schickle-Berger: top presentation – as usual 😊) One topic was astonishing: #Flexibility! Dr. Sabrina Ried stated clearly, that taking loads into consideration for congestion management would lead to lower cost, but there is no regulatory frame (and refinancing mechanism) for that! Totally true: I remember the endless discussions to develop the remuneration scheme for redispatch in the branch dialogue about 10 years ago! The circle of participants was clearly defined and -quite small. It still took ages to develop a solution, which then was not satisfying for many stakeholders. To find a solution for loads, reflecting all their particularities,sounds like a mission impossible. Now, there is an easy way out of these endless microregulation approaches: Markets! And this is in development in the European Network Code on Demand Response, where I was closely involved as representative for Energy Traders Europe. Local markets are maybe not as easy as I sometimes promote it – however, once established, it is robust and can send a long-term investment signal for all the needed infrastructure and logics/algorithms. Peter Lux carefully stated exactly that and Friederike Wenderoth was more specific on that! Yes, please focus on markets without falling into rabbit wholes of the smart meter rollout!! I am delighted, that the opinion turns towards coupled thinking of market and systems away from on against the other. Thanks! Just remember, that we have over 8GW of #storage in homes installed, plus tremendous amount of grid connection requests from grid-scale storage (161 GW). The intelligence of prices, structures and processes can be transferred to market participants! It is all there, waiting to be used! Thanks at everyone involved, many good arguments also in the other panels!!
