Consultancy.eu, the platform for consultants and the consulting industry, interviewed our experts Iacopo Bertelli and Fei Wu about what it's like to work at Magnus Energy after obtaining a PhD. Fei: “Working on such important topics for the sector makes me feel tremendously motivated every morning when I wake up. It is just so much fun when you can be directly involved in the energy transition – something that I couldn’t do during my PhD time.” Iacopo: “The firm offers a really great mix of backgrounds: from engineering and hard sciences to law, economics, and political sciences. This mix really is quite unique from my perspective. Despite all our difference and cultures, relationships between colleagues are very close-knit.” Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/ejhfS8RD Did you know we're still hiring? The Rijksuniversiteit Groningen and the University of Oldenburg aim to strengthen their joint efforts in energy research and related teaching activities. Interdisciplinary teams of researchers from both institutions have now agreed on four major areas of cooperation. The experts will collaborate on projects to optimise and control electricity grids on different time scales as well as on modelling the interactions between technology and society in the context of the energy transition. They will also focus on hydrogen storage in underground caverns and societal discourse on this topic, as well as supporting structures and platforms to facilitate access to regional partners. These topics were identified during a joint workshop at ForWind – Zentrum für Windenergieforschung . The Presidential Board of the University of Oldenburg and staff of the Department of Research and Transfer joined 25 energy researchers from both institutions as well as representatives of regional networks. The researchers' areas of expertise include wind energy, law, energy informatics, chemistry and sociology. Prof. Dr Lorenzo Squintani from Groningen as well as Prof. Dr Sebastian Lehnhoff and Prof. Dr Bernd Siebenhüner from Oldenburg chaired the workshop, which was self-organised by the researchers and supported by Oldenburger Energiecluster OLEC e.V. During the workshop, the researchers also discussed funding opportunities and transfer structures in the regions. "Thanks to intensive preparation and targeted structuring, we were able to bring together experts from both universities across disciplines for concrete projects. In the coming weeks, the responsible teams will work on the four proposed activities. We look forward to continuing to work with our partners in Groningen," says Prof. Lehnhoff. 📷 University of Oldenburg / Matthias Knust #EnergyResearch #WindEnergy #crossborder #energy #transition #impact

Google surprised me today bringing a flood of memories and milestones! Reflecting on 2024, it's been quite a year already. From hitting 1000 citations (lifetime total) to the joy of welcoming my daughter Arya Rose in April, the journey has been nothing short of incredible. Despite the challenges, like getting laid off in March, I embraced new beginnings. Starting my consulting venture, Geothermal Energy Advisors #GEA, has been a rewarding experience. Completing my first projects ranging from due diligence for geothermal investments to peer reviews for major projects, every opportunity has been a chance to grow and learn. Exciting partnerships, like with Morten Stahl at Natural Hydrogen Ventures #NHV, have led to investments in #SerpentineEnergy, with more on the horizon. Oh, I almost forgot winning a DOE grant (more to come here) and publishing 9 papers this year so far (5 online with 4 in press) have been highlights, showcasing my dedication to #lowcarbonenergy #naturalhydrogen, #geothermal, and #riftedmargins. Curious to learn more? Feel free to explore my Google Scholar profile. Here's to embracing milestones, overcoming challenges, and continuing to make waves in the world of energy and consultancy and leadership! 🌟 #consulting #milestones #energyindustry

Hey everyone, I’m conducting a quick survey on Carbon Capture and Storage (#CCS) and legacy wellbores in the North Sea and would love your insights! CCS will likely play a role in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change during global efforts to reach NetZero. Offshore storage of CO2 presents a promising solution for long-term storage; however, it is crucial to assess, manage, and mitigate the risks associated with the loss of containment at offshore CO2 storage facilities. Your feedback will help us explore ways to evaluate legacy wellbores in the North Sea with respect to the potential risks to the containment of CO2, and their role in the deployment of CCS in the Scottish offshore environment. Survey Details: 🔎Topic: CCS and legacy wellbores 🎯Purpose: Help us manage the safe and timely deployment of CCS in the Scottish North Sea ⏰Time: Only 10 minutes needed 🗓️Deadline: Survey ongoing As part of a research project sponsored by Crown Estates Scotland and led by Heriot-Watt University, this is a component of the PhD research being conducted by myself. Your participation is key! Click the link below to take the survey and feel free to share with others who might be interested. https://lnkd.in/eWeVE7kk Thanks for your help! 🙌
Crown Estate Scotland are part-funding a PhD programme at Heriot-Watt University which will provide valuable information on containment risks from legacy wells in Scottish waters. As part of this, Benjamin Pullen is conducting a quick survey on Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and legacy wellbores in the North Sea and needs your insights. To participate, click the link below.
