RATIONALE
The term paper along with its presentation which will serve as the final output/output-based final examination of
students taking the course, The Contemporary World, generally aims at measuring students’ awareness of
contemporary issues particularly those concerning globalization; and at the same time, apply necessary research
skills in making a technical paper. This will gauge how students express their analysis on their chosen topic through
a discussion/presentation of the paper and share their ideas on how it will help in their future profession given the
concept of the changing world as key takeaways of this output.
OBJECTIVES
1. Develop critical awareness of the issues of the contemporary times particularly globalization;
2. Find relevance of their topic to their chosen program;
3. Apply necessary research skills in making a term paper; and,
4. Show mastery and confidence in expressing their ideas through paper presentation.
Given that societal awareness, critical thinking, and research skills are some of the important skills necessary for
students of the 21st century, this output will be of help in giving opportunities to make the students be open-minded
of the necessary breakthroughs and issues of today’s world related to their profession through presentation of
gathered information from different sources and producing a term paper which can be a guide once they will venture
of research paper writing which is a primary requirement in all programs in the collegiate level.
GENERAL DIRECTIONS
Choose a topic concerning globalization that has relevance to you chosen program. Prepare a specific topic/ title
for your study, objectives of the study, specific questions to be answered through related literature, and its
significance or contribution to the present and future body of knowledge. Apply your research skills so you can
produce a term paper which will also be presented before the end of the final term this semester.
SUBMISSION SPECIFICS
Submissions should be sent via MS Teams thru the assignment link created for the purpose.
Attach your proposal as a PDF document, prepared thru MS Word with the following parameters:

Submitted topics should be original, and you should have the right to discuss or present the proposed content.
The faculty-in-charge reserve the right to modify, adapt, or combine topics for the best fit within the established
content strategy.
All materials submitted will become the property of the University as these will be archived digitally as a matter of
records.
GUIDELINES IN MAKING THE TERM PAPER
I. INTRODUCTION
1st Paragraph – researchers’ perspective/point of view with the topic with related literature to support the claim
2nd Paragraph – background of the topic with RRL to expound the discussion
3rd Paragraph – current situation which may include the problem/s & solution within the context of the topic
4th Paragraph – discussion of the rationale (objectives) of the topic and the specific questions that need to be
addressed in the study
5th Paragraph – significance of the study (general and specific)
II. BODY/DISCUSSION
Thematic Approach- It should consist of subtopics/ themes with enough RRL (at least 3) to discuss the said
subtopic/theme. Make sure that there is foreign and local literature and studies included in discussing the
related ideas of the chosen topic.
Synthesis of the RRL- This is a summary of the RRL highlighting the groupings of ideas/themes with emphasis
only on the main ideas presented in the RRL
NOTE: Use the 7th edition APA citation style and 5-7 years of recency of RRL.
In-text citation: According to Dela Cruz (2019) the history of Philippines is…
Parenthetical: The history of the Philippines can be traced back to pre-historic period (Dela Cruz, 2019)
III. CONCLUSION
At least two paragraphs that will consist of your analysis (1st) and takeaways (2nd) based on the collection of data
(RRL) that you gathered.
IV. REFERENCES
Consist of all the references that you utilized in your study. It should follow the 7th edition APA format of
referencing (alphabetical, hanging indented)
GUIDELINES IN THE TERM PAPER PRESENTATION
1. Finalize your manuscript. Make sure that it is printed in accordance with the format given. It should have title page,
introduction, body/discussion, conclusion, and references. Citation and References should adhere with the 7th edition
APA format.
2. Print your manuscript in A4 size bond paper. Make at least 4 copies of your manuscript for the panel and for me as your
subject teacher. Submit your MANUSCRIPT on OCTOBER 28, 2024, since the panel needs to see and read it for their initial
checking. FORMAL PRESENTATION WILL BE ON OCTOBER 30, 2024.
3. Print the scoring rubrics in three (3) copies as well, both the manuscript scoring sheet and the individual scoring sheet. Fill
out the necessary details before printing them like the title of your research and the names of the leaders and members arranged
in alphabetical order (Surname, First Name, Middle Initial).
4. Make the Power point presentation. The content of the PPT are as follows:
a. Title
b. Objectives of the Study
c. Statement of the Problem
d. Significance of the Study
e. RRL (only the Themes of your RRL and make sure that during the presentation, you will provide the central information of
each theme with its corresponding source/s)
f. Conclusion (Analysis- which is in response with the Statement of the Problem & Takeaways- Reflection that you
generalize out of the topic being studied. Keywords only and not copy and paste the paragraph that you put in the
manuscript)
g. References
5. Make a nametag to be used during the presentation. SURNAME only and make sure it is visible for you to be acknowledged
by the panels.
1. Make sure that you have all materials needed for the presentation (laptop, nametag, manuscript to be placed in a long
folder, scoring rubrics, pencil).
2. Be in your complete uniform. If there is no uniform yet, make sure that you are in your formal attire. Do not forget to put your
nametag for recognition.
4. Show mastery and confidence as you present and discuss your paper. Look at the rubrics for scoring both manuscript and
individual presentation.
5. Take note of all the comments, suggestions, and/or recommendations coming from the panels.
1. Edit the manuscript as suggested by the panel. Make sure that you follow all the suggestions given during the presentation.
2. Finalize the paper and print the final manuscript in the A4 bond paper.
3. Submit your final manuscript on or before NOVEMBER 5, 2024. No final manuscript, no score in the FINAL EXAM
column.
