Bank Controller
The Bank Controller (BC) setup consists of one gaming machine configured as the BC Server to support
up to 16 gaming machines configured as BC Clients. The BC feature is enabled by connecting a
pre-programmed USB Licensing Key into the gaming machine to be used as the BC Server. The controller
software resides within the Alpha 2 Operating System and functions in the background during normal
game play.
Each BC Client connects to the BC Server using the Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) protocol. The
BC server and BC Client must have identical game, paytable, and denomination configuration.
NOTE: For specific instructions on setting up BC Clients and BC servers, see the Alpha Game
Platform OS Operator’s Guide or the Alpha Game Platform Software Setup Field Guide.
The BC menu provides configuration of progressive jackpots on the BC Server. It accepts contributions
from all BC Clients connected to the BC Server including non-progressive games.
After the BC Server is configured, the client gaming machines detect the server through the MAPS
Multilink (MML) Host, based on the Group Name given to the server. The BC supports up to 5
progressive links of up to 8 levels each.

Casino Equipment Interface (CEI)
Uninstalling CEI
STEP 1. Go to Start.
STEP 5. A confirmation message displays “Are you sure you want to delete the Casino Equipment
Interface from your system?” Click Yes.
Installing CEI
NOTE: For additional information, see your CoolSign Casino Equipment Interface User Guide.
The Bally Casino Equipment Interface supports the following progressive controller devices:
• Bally Alpha2 Multilink Progressive
• Bally Local Link
• Bally Enterprise Progressive System
• Bally Progressive Simulation (i.e. for sample values to test content)
• CasinoLink IP
• Casinolink Serial Connection via a SIB device
• IGT Advantage (aka Acres Lucky Coin)
• IGT IPC
• Mikohn CON2/CON4
System Requirements
The minimum system requirements for the CEI application are the same as the recommended
configuration for a Player node described in the CoolSign Installation Guide.
Supported Configurations
CEI supports the following configuration:
• Multiple Controllers Connected to a Single CEI System
A CEI application running on a system can be connected to more than one progressive controller.
It has been tested to work with up to 8 ones. If it is connected to more than one, then it is
recommended that the system should not be used as a Player node because the performance of
playing ads may not be desirable (as tested with a 1.8GHz system with a GeForce2 card).
• Multiple Meters in One Ad
A 1.8 GHz system with a GeForce2 card or better will provide adequate performance for the
content that has 2 meters in it. A 1.8 GHz system with a GeForce4 card or better will provide good
performance for a content that has 6 meters in it. A 2.4 GHz system with a FX5200 card will
provide good performance for a content that has 8 meters in it.
Prerequisites
The following information is needed to complete the installation.
• The number of progressive controllers that will be attached to the Player node. Typically there will
only be one, but up to eight are supported on a system that meets the recommended Player node
Copyright 2011-2012 Bally Gaming, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
system specifications.
• The type of the progressive controller device.
• The COM port(s) used to connect to the progressive controller device.
• The number of progressive levels that will be tracked for each progressive jackpot controller.
• The name you want to assign to the Datatable(s) and Trigger(s) created by the application. This
name can be any combination of letters and numbers and must be unique for a given network.
• The computer name or IP address of the Network Controller.
• The user name and password for a CoolSign Network account that can be used to create another
account.
• Verify the version of the CEI, AdPlayer, and Agent software you are installing is approved for the
jurisdiction in which it is being installed.
Installation Steps
STEP 1. Import the CEI product key into the Network Controller that will be connected to the system
which, will have the CEI installed on it.
NOTE: if you do not have a product key after you install CEI, you will not be able to
configure the application.
STEP 2. Attach the appropriate cable from the progressive controller to the serial port of the Player
node. Note the COM port is used.
STEP 3. Attach monitor and keyboard to the Player node and reboot, such that the machine recognizes
these two devices.
STEP 4. Load the Bally Casino Equipment Interface Installation CD in the Player node CD tray.
STEP 5. Make sure that all the CoolSign software has been stopped on the machine.
STEP 6. In the CEI directory on the CD (located at CoolSign Software Installation\Additional Product
Installers\Casino Equipment Interface), double-click on CasinoEquipmentInterface.msi to
run the installer.
STEP 7. Advance through the first few screens of the installer (Start, Welcome and Licensing) until
the Select Installation Folder screen appears.
STEP 8. Use the default settings on the screen as shown above, and click Next.
STEP 11. When the Installation Complete screen appears, click Close to exit. A screen appears
indicating the installation was successful.
STEP 1. Press the Windows key, select All Programs > CoolSign> Casino Equipment Interface. The
CEI Configuration screen is displayed.
STEP 2. On the Network Configuration tab, select the type of output for the system, from the Output
Type drop-down list. The Network Settings screen will appear.
Copyright 2011-2012 Bally Gaming, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
The Network Setting determines if the system will operate in stand-alone mode when it is in the field.
If the Player will it be in communication with a CoolSign network controller, select Networked.
Otherwise, select Standalone.
The Login Settings are used to configure the Network Controller URL on which the data associated with
the CEI will reside. This can be a computer name or IP address. The User Name and Password are the
CoolSign user name and password that is present on that Network Controller (not a Windows username
and password). The user entered must have CoolSign administrative rights on the network. By default, the
User Name is admin and the Password is password (the default values for a CoolSign system).
NOTE: Before clicking OK, set up the Progressive Configuration as described on the
following page. The Player node PC must also be connected to the Coolsign
Server network defined on the Network Connection tab.
Field Description
Port Number Select the number of TCP port to which the progressive controller is attached.
Client Timeout Enter the time period after which the client is timed-out. If messages are not
received from Alpha2 MultiLink within the specified time period, CEI will
disconnect the Alpha2 Multilink client socket.
Field Description
Progressive Levels Enter the progressive levels. Each required level must be entered on its own
line in this section.
Enable recurring jackpot triggers Select to have the CEI generate a recurring trigger when a jackpot occurs. A
recurring trigger content will play up to maximum content duration (if it is
more than 60 seconds) or up to 60 seconds.
Enable one-shot jackpot triggers Select to have the CEI generate a one-shot trigger when a jackpot occurs.
These triggers are typically used to show the jackpot message on another
Player in the casino to build excitement by letting people know that someone
won a jackpot.
Communication Errors If enabled, this option will delete the data rows for a meter if there is no data
coming from the progressive controller for more than the specified period of
time. If the content is designed (and scheduled) to respond when there are no
data rows, this will allow for an error message to appear over all content when
TCP communications are lost with a progressive controller. It is highly
recommended to use this feature.
Once the progressive is created, meter tables are created in CNM for that progressive in the format
‘<Progressive Name> MeterTableN’ where N stands for the Link number (e.g., A2ML Link1 MeterTable1
The corresponding triggers are also created in CNM in the format ‘<Progressive Name>
JackpotTableLinkXLevelN’ for One-Shot triggers and ‘<Progressive Name>
JackpotTableLinkXLevelNRecurring’ for Recurring triggers where X stands for the Link number and N
stands for the Level number (e.g., A2ML Link1MeterTable1 and A2ML Link1
JackpotTableLink1Recurring).
The Source XML file must contain the table name to be in the format ‘MeterTableX’ where X stands for
Link number and the trigger name to be in the format ‘JackpotTableLinkXLevelN’ where X stands for the
Link number and N stands for the Level number. For example, when data table is received as
‘MeterTable1’, CEI will update the Link1 Progressive table.

Alpha 2 Multilink™ Setup Guide Chapter 5: CoolSign Software Configuration
NOTE: Do not use Find Available Networks when adding the network.
The system has been setup to connect to the gaming hardware, you need to setup the messages on the
CoolSign displays to show this information.
There are two distinct areas to show the messages; the display in the progressive slot bank (local to the
gaming hardware) and the rest of the displays in other areas of the casino. For security purposes, the data
on the local system needs to be kept very secure. This is done by using locally stored data. When a Player
node is connected to a gaming device, the data coming from this device is used to update the Datatables
stored on the local node, which then updates the appropriate Datatables stored on the Network Controller.
When progressive content is displayed on a Player node using data from local gaming hardware, the meter
and jackpot data comes from the locally updated Datatable.
When the CEI is configured, it automatically performs some tasks to make the scheduling process
possible. It automatically creates the necessary Datatables, fields, and Triggers. When the CEI application
starts up, it automatically creates the necessary rows/records in the Datatable.
STEP 2. Link the dynamic data in the meter content to the appropriate datatable.
STEP 4. Schedule the jackpot message content (this is not necessary for IGT installations).
Import Content
Importing content is a procedure for bringing new content into a CoolSign Network. It involves selecting
the folder where the content and its associated files are stored, then importing it into your CoolSign
Network. After being imported, the content will appear in the Content Manager Data Grid and will be
available for use.
STEP 2. Drag and drop your progressive-related content folders onto the manager’s main window.
STEP 3. A progress bar appears providing an ongoing status until the import is complete.
STEP 2. Select the first meter content that you have imported and double-click on it to show the
Properties window.
STEP 4. Select the appropriate datatable from the Set Datatable drop-down list.
A. Repeat the steps for any other datatables that have to be set (e.g. if you have meter content
that is running a wide area progressive as well as a local one).
Channels
Channels are the primary tool for scheduling how content plays on the media players. Channels provide
the ability to centrally manage all schedules for a media player from one screen.
Multiple media players can be tuned to a single channel. If that channel is modified by adding, editing, or
removing scheduled items, then any media players that are tuned to that channel automatically update
with the changes.
TIP: Instead of scheduling content directly onto each media player, use channels
to program how content should play and then tune each media player to the
appropriate channel.
Navigation
To navigate to the Channels screen, click the Channels icon in the navigation bar.
STEP 2. Enter a name for the new channel in the Name field.
STEP 3. Choose a format for the new channel from the Format box.
• The format for all content in a channel must be identical.
• The format for all media players tuned to a channel must be identical.
For example, only schedule portrait content into a portrait channel and tune only portrait
media players to portrait channels.
STEP 4. Add content items and play lists to the channel. See “Adding Items to a Channel ” on page 5-12.
STEP 2. Change any applicable properties, add, edit, or remove scheduled items in the channel. See
“Adding Items to a Channel ” on page 5-12.
STEP 3. Click OK or Apply Changes. Any media players tuned to this channel automatically update.
Deleting a Channel
To delete a channel, from the Channels page, complete one of the following:
• Select the channel and choose Edit > Delete.
• Right-click the channel and choose Delete.
If a media player is currently tuned to the channel selected for deletion, then a warning message displays.

Content, Data Tables, and Channels
Content
CoolSign content is imported into the system before it is scheduled or played on CoolSign media players
connected to the network.
Importing Content
Copyright 2011-2012 Bally Gaming, Inc. All Rights Reserved.
From the Content Manager, choose Actions > Import Content and select the destination content folder.
If content with the same name already exists, then a message displays options to replace or rename the
imported content. The Content Import box displays the current and pending progress.
Updating Content
After importing, the assets within the content are locked and can not be modified from within the system.
If the operator imports either the content script or the assets within the content, the operator must
re-import to update the existing content. If the content being updated has been scheduled, CoolSign will
automatically update the content on the scheduled media players, including transferring any required
files.
Exporting Content
To modify the content externally or transfer it from the CoolSign network to another network, use the
export content functionality.

data slot logging.
