B. REVIEW Yes, sir.

What is our last topic?

Our topic is about theorems related to

What are the two theorems related to chords, arcs, central angles, and inscribed
inscribe angle of a circle? angles

Theorem 1: Inscribed Angle Theorem:

If an angle is inscribed in a circle, then
the
measure of the angle equals one-half the
measure of its intercepted arc.
Conversely, the measure of the

inscribed angle.

Theorem 2: If two inscribed angles of

a circle (or congruent circles) intercept
congruent arcs or the same arcs or the
same arc, then the angles are congruent.
Very good!
C. MOTIVATION
Before we proceed to our next topic lets
have first a game called fill in the blanks.

Arc - part of the _____ of the circle. Outiside

Sector - an area of the circle enclosed by
two ______. Radii
Chord - a _____ line starting at one point
on the circle and ending at another point Straight
on the circle.
A _______ is a shape consisting of all
points in a plane that are at a given Circle
distance from a given point, the centre.

D. DISCUSSION
Our topic for today is all about secants,
tangents, segments and sectors of a circle.

Let us use circle R to define secant,

tangent, sector, and segment of a circle.

A secant is a line that intersects a circle

at exactly two points. A secant contains a

A sector of a circle is the region
bounded by an arc of the circle and the
radii to the endpoints of the arc. To find
