A. Preliminary Activity Drill
Have a drill on basic division facts.
Review
Recall the steps in solving a word problem.

Motivation
Show a banana (or a picture of banana).

Ask: What is this? (If it is a picture-What do you see in this


picture?)Do you know this fruit? What do you call
this fruit here in our place? Do you eat this? What
do you get from eating banana? (Infuse the KBI. Tell
something about a banana.)

B. Developmental Activity Activity 1

Present the problem below.

Mother bought 6 bananas in the market. She divided


it between her 2 children. How many bananas did each of
her child receive?
Ask: Who bought bananas? What did Mother buy? Where
did she buy the bananas? What will she do to the
bananas she bought? How many bananas did she
buy? How many children does she have? What are we
going to look for?
Say: Before we solve this problem, let’s analyze this first.

(Lead and show the pupils on telling what is asked, the


given facts, the operation, the number sentence and the
solution to the problem. Give another example of problem
to solve.)

Group the pupils into four. Give each group activity
sheets where the problem they are going to answer is
written.

1. Analyze the problem by telling what is asked, the
given facts and the operation to be used in solving
the problem.
2. Transform the problem into a number sentence.
3. Solve the problem.

1. Daniel went to a store. He bought 55 marbles. He


shared them among his 5 friends. How many marbles
did each of his friend get?
2. There are 40 children who will join the marathon. Each
group needs 10 members. How many groups will join
the marathon?

F. Assessment Read and solve.


1. Myra bought apples for her sick sister. She gave the
seller P50. If each apple costs P10, how many apples
was she able to buy?
2. The farmer gathered 50 pomelos from his farm. The
pomelos will be packed equally in 5 boxes. How many
pomelos will each box contain?
3. Mrs. Santiago has P36 and she’s going to share it
equally among her 4 children. How much will each
child receive?
4. Cora collected 24 pebbles for her project in Science.
She will use it to decorate her 3 boxes. How many
pebbles will be used for each box?
5. Marco bought 18 balls. He will give it between his 2
cousins. How many balls will each of his cousin
receive?
