Our nation has had stories of lack of political goodwill but at most corruption. We however as citizens of this Nation have a duty to it and it's upon us to partake that. As local Change makers, together with our colleagues at Maono Space, we have been at the forefront in enhancing social accountability and public participation for an inclusive governance for the past year. Our work on this has revolved around looking into budget documents, engaging the community meaningful and leveraging public participation as it is key to development. With support from The Open Institute we have been able to do a budget analysis to which some of the details are provided in the link below. https://lnkd.in/dhWCikCy

Thank you for sharing the full report Matthew. This Report clearly and definitively underscores the malevolent practices of our legal system that has intentionally targeted us and our Black and Indigenous lawyers! Why? Because the greatest fear White people have is an intelligent, articulate, educated Black or Indigenous person. Because Colonialist's understand that the "application" of knowledge is the greatest strength any human being can possess. And because Racism is about "Power and Control" targeted Systemic Discrimination keeps the Lion's share of our lawyers "fearful" and quite apprehensive to make a single wrong move! This isn't happenstance, by default this is what Colonialist's Societies do to ensure their collective knees rest firmly upon our necks! This is Racism 101!

That is our starting point. There is undoubtedly systemic discrimination affecting many equity deserving groups within Nova Scotia’s legal community." – An excerpt from Regaining Trust: The Ruck Report; Systemic Discrimination in Nova Scotia’s Legal Community FULL REPORT: https://lnkd.in/g3atatD4

The latest "More Than Legal Services" report sheds light on the incredible work of community legal centres (CLCs) across Australia in 2023-24. CLCs like ARC Justice deliver holistic services addressing legal, social and economic challenges — keeping people safe, housed and informed. However, the report also underscores the sector's ongoing crisis: · 390,000+ people turned away due to overwhelming demand; · The urgent need for significant investment to meet growing demand and reduce unmet legal needs, particularly in rural and regional areas. At ARC Justice, we see these challenges first-hand and are proud to contribute to the resilience of our communities. Now, more than ever, we echo the call for sustainable funding to ensure every individual has access to justice and support when they need it most. 📖 Read the full report here: https://clcs.org.au/sots/ #CommunityLegalCentres #AccessToJustice #SocialImpact #RegionalAustralia Community Legal Centres Australia
