TOWNHALL TWO On April 26th we host our second New Working Class Townhall meeting. The clamour of headlines since we last met in January evidence a toppling stack of issues to reflect upon: 🎩 The 'survival' stasis of our young 🎩 Declining attendance and engagement in formal learning 🎩 The efficacy and financial viability of education 🎩 The value of academic knowledge versus life skills 🎩 The changing requirements of our future workforce 🎩 Increasing costs of recruiting and retaining our staff In this context we ask three questions: a. How can we lead (and de-risk) a systemic rethink and re-engineering of how educators work with employers to deliver sustainable economic value? b. What will galvanise a coalition of stakeholders (educators, employers, and local authorities) to help prototype our Lifelong Learning pathway? c. How might we recalibrate outcomes to be of measurable commercial benefit to all? Please register via the QR code below, and feel free to bring other guests who might be interested in this conversation. The coffee will be strong. Join the movement. ✊🎩

"We shall reflect 50% of our time" This insightful advice from our former CEO, Micael Holmström, has always resonated with me. While dedicating half of my working hours to reflection is challenging, I strive to integrate this into my work in a structured way. The fact that one should spend up to 25 days a year on learning and reflection is crucial for keeping up, though achieving this can be quite challenging! I think that learning is a continuous process that occurs everywhere, all the time - you just need to be mindful of it. It happens through a blend of on-the-job experiences and dedicated deep learning sessions. Yesterday was one of those days for me, as I treated myself to a "conference-on-my-own" at a spa. This day was dedicated to addressing various questions and concerns for Brights Learning and my personal development. The timing was perfect, with H1 closing soon and my upcoming second parental leave after the summer. On reflection is that working in Notion has been a game-changer. And in fact, introducing Notion to Brights has been one of my proudest achievements this year, contributing to our progress towards being a more transparent, efficient, and resilient organization. I highly recommend making learning a part of your everyday work. And, occasionally, take the time for a personal conference - it’s incredibly rewarding! #Learning #Reflection #PersonalDevelopment #Efficiency #Notion

We’re all a part of the energy transition..
As part of Employability Work Inspiration Week, our Director of System Operations, Craig Dyke FIET, reflects on the importance of giving young people who are neurodiverse the opportunity to join us to learn about the work environment, the roles they could work in and to develop their social skills. At the ESO, we recognise there are a large number of young adults who don’t get a fair opportunity, and as we become the National Energy System Operator it’s important we embrace neurodiversity at all levels of seniority.
