For older people who are on their own and receive few visitors, the hours can tick by slowly with little but distant memories to occupy their mind. The festive season can often spark painful reminders of happier times, making this time of year particularly tough for older people living with loneliness. Something as simple as a weekly call with a Re-engage volunteer can make the world of difference – bringing conversation and human contact back into their life. Please donate today 👉 https://lnkd.in/eg-KW78d Thank you! 🧡 #BigGive #ChristmasChallenge #EndLoneliness

🎄 This Season, Let’s Share the Joy 🎄 For many of us, this time of year means cosy fires, delicious meals, and the joy of watching children tear into their presents with excitement. But for others, it’s a season of worry—how to protect their loved ones, how to bring a spark of joy to their children amidst challenges like loss, illness, or displacement. This holiday season, countless organisations and charities are working tirelessly to support vulnerable children and families, offering them hope and something to smile about. 🌟 Here’s how you can help: If you’re part of a Common Change Group, now’s the perfect time to raise a request to support families in need. Whether it’s a direct gift to a family you know or a donation to your local community centre or church, your generosity can help lift the burden during the festive season. Not part of a group yet? This year alone, Common Change Groups across the UK have given over £17,000 in direct gifts to those facing hardship—and there’s still time to make an impact! DM if you would like to hear more about Common Change UK. ✨ Let’s keep the giving spirit alive: ❤️ Like if you believe in spreading joy this season. 💬 Comment below with local organisations or initiatives that could use a helping hand. 📤 Share this post to inspire others to get involved. Together, we can make this season brighter for everyone. Let’s turn worry into warmth and need into hope. 💛 Photo by Annie Spratt on Unsplash

🌐The willingness to share does not make one charitable; it makes one free.🌏 🌐As each of us has spent time on planet Earth chances are that someone has recommended that you "take some time for self-care." Maybe a friend/family has encouraged you to enjoy a "treat yo' self" kind of day. Maybe they’ve told you to make yourself a bubble bath or meditate or do Anulom Vilom. ❣️At the heart of all this advice is the same operational principle: If you want to feel better, you need to do the labor yourself, for yourself. 💫That's why some experts/ community organizers ask that people consider practicing another form of compassion: community care. 👨👨👧👧Community care is a better stepping stone than self-care. It addresses the fact that we're naturally cooperative. We require validation from one another to psychologically persevere and be resilient. That's where community care offers something different. We're doing it together and trying to survive in a system . 💪Together we can achieve more 👩👩👧👨👨👧👧👬 #linkedininsights #linkedinfamily #linkedinlife
