Which is heart disease, diabetes and cancer. And there are movements happening across Tampa Bay to get our seniors the nutritious foods they need for a healthy diet. Joining me now with how they are serving the senior community is the founder of Saving Our Seniors, Kelly Castro. Kelly, it is great to see you again. Thank you so much for having us here. Absolutely. So I know there's a big gap between seniors and all the care that they really need. And you stepped in on almost like a grassroots. Level I'm I met you years ago and all you do is serve seniors, right? Yeah. I was an occupational therapist for so many years, so I sat beside them advocating for them. And when I started saving our seniors, I wanted change for them. So you started, like, with medical supplies, and now you've shifted into dietary needs. Why? During the height of COVID, I had 10 seniors contact me daily for access to fresh produce, and I kept sending them away to resources that assisted with food at the time. But because there's such a need, there's so many wait list, so saving our seniors was created to fill that immediate gap. So taught me through the the produce pack, what comes in it, how is it designed? So the produce pack was actually invented for people in the community to start getting, you know you could purchase the produce pack and then in return we'll feed a senior. You know that's homebound because our fresh farmers markets are at age restricted communities and mobile homes, but there's, I mean age restricted mobile home. Communities and also recreation centers, but there's still a large gap that are homebound and they can't have, you know, they can't get out. So this produce pack will be delivered right to their door. And I remember you and I met during the pandemic and I came out with my iPhone because I wanted to see what you were up to. And you were taking food and setting up resources going to the seniors because so many times they don't have the energy, they don't have any way to travel, they don't have any help. So you go to them, which makes all the difference. In the world now, when we first started, I think I was still in my Chevy Malibu running My Fresh Farmers market. So now we have increased to serving about 14,000 seniors a month. We give access to fresh produce. Actually this morning we already served about 250 seniors before coming out here. That is so cool. So this is something that if somebody's watching today and they're like, hey, I want to buy a produce pack, how much would this cost? So the small pack is 10 items and it's 2650 and the large pack is 14 items and it's 3650. And it will be delivered to your door every Saturday if you would like. Or you could decide when you would like it delivered. And you could buy this for a senior. Like, let's say you you don't necessarily need the pack, but I could say, hey Kelly, I'd like to donate money and make sure that my produce pack goes to a senior in need. Yeah, right. On our website, producepack.com, you can either donate or you can sign up for your own pack. But then if you do purchase your own pack, another senior will be served too. So I know you've been working tirelessly and and starting a nonprofit. Is not easy. It's it's really, really difficult. And I know you've been out networking with other women's groups and you just found one that awarded you quite a bit of money. Yeah, the hundred women of Pinellas. It was a luck of a draw. You know, we we got picked out of a hat and we were the third one to compete. So I don't, you know, I got a little nervous that we weren't going to win, but we were able to and we really needed that funding to be able to continue. You know our mission of no senior without. And so it helps. So you got about 15,000, I got 15,000 that we won. And then they have a another grant that will match up to 5000. And then like a really big difference and your ability to help seniors, yeah, that that money is going to the produce pack. So we'll be able to deliver, you know, quite a bit of fresh produce to seniors in need. And then in Saint Petersburg, you also were entered an actual competition, you came in second, which is great because there were a lot of people there. And that too will raise awareness for what you're doing. So it's kind of this cool, grassroots blossoming way of getting out your mission statement. Yeah, I mean, I'm pretty much still one woman with a team of maybe 20 volunteers and two staff members, and the amount of people that we serve is incredible. So with produce pack, we would like to increase to about 28,000 seniors a month. You know, being able to have that fresh produce because truly food is medicine. And what made you become so passionate about this? You said you were. Kind of in the industry where you would be around an elderly clientele and what sparked the passion inside of you? I mean I feel like seniors have paved the way for so many of us and as a society we don't really, they're out of sight, out of mind. We don't really take care of them like we should. So it's my journey, my mission to make sure that everyone feels as a priority as they were, you know when they were working or or putting into this community that we that we live in. And I know that you said you're you're late, moms probably smiling. Down. You almost felt like there might have been a nudge from her from heaven, that her daughter is on the right trajectory. Yes. I mean, I my mother, I I love her. She's I feel like she's still here with me and she was my biggest supporter before she passed away so well I know she's smiling down on you and thank you for sharing this. And I I again, I did meet you on a very like you just picked up the phone one day and you called me and we met. And I'm like so many years later. I'm glad to see you're doing so well and you're helping. Thousands and thousands of seniors, thank you so much. Thank you so much. Tampa.

Friends,
Many of you know of my passion for MHP Salud, a nonprofit that helps people in underserved, under-represented communities access health, social and support services that can change – even save – their lives.
How many people are suffering from hidden diseases because they don’t think they can afford health care? This is why MHP Salud is here – to make sure no one has to endure unnecessary suffering.
As you reflect on your own blessings and think of how you can pay it forward, please consider a gift to MHP Salud. Your generosity can create happy holidays – even change the course of 2025 – for someone in need.
$38 can fill a child’s stocking … perhaps for the first time ever
$93 can provide a warm holiday meal to a family struggling to make ends meet (Nearly 100% of families served by MHP Salud have an annual income of less than $14K)
$428 can help a child access critical health care services
There is so much your contribution can do – a gift of any amount will make a difference.
Your tax-deductible donation will go to work immediately to help families and individuals in the most impoverished, underserved neighborhoods in America.
Please, give today. You can easily give online at www.mhpsalud.org/donate.
Wishing you healthy, happy holidays.
With much appreciation,
Dave

ASG HOPE & HEAL FOUNDATION: Share a Meal, Spread the Smile
On a chilly winter evening, a young boy named Aarav sat on the sidewalk, clutching his stomach in hunger. The bustling city around him seemed to care little for his plight. One day, a warm hand reached out with a hot, wholesome meal. It wasn’t just food; it was a symbol of hope. Aarav’s smile that day became a powerful reminder that even small acts of kindness can light up lives.
This is the mission of ASG Hope And Heal Foundation —to bridge the gap between hunger and hope through their campaign, Share a Meal, Spread the Smile. Every meal donated is more than sustenance; it’s a message that someone cares.
Through community kitchens, food distribution drives, and partnerships, the foundation has touched countless lives, ensuring that no one goes to bed hungry. You can be a part of this change—join hands with ASG to make every smile brighter.

Compassion and the Spirit of Giving
As the season of giving surrounds us, it’s a great time to reflect on the power of compassion. Sometimes, it’s the small gestures that make the biggest difference in someone’s life.
Whether it’s offering a kind word, donating to a local shelter, or volunteering time to help a neighbor, we all have the ability to brighten someone’s day. Here are a few simple ways to make a difference:
• Organize a donation drive: Collect coats, blankets, or non-perishable food for those in need.
• Support local families: Drop off groceries or gift cards anonymously to help make their holidays a little easier.
• Volunteer your time: Help at a soup kitchen, mentor someone, or spend time with residents at a veterans’ home or senior care facility.
• Pay it forward: Cover someone’s coffee, groceries, or gas as a random act of kindness.
It’s not about how much we give, but the intention behind it. Compassion is contagious, and when we come together to help one another, we build stronger communities.
Let’s all find a way to give back this season—it could be the start of something bigger than we imagine.
How are you giving back this year? Share your thoughts or ideas in the comments—I’d love to hear them!

🌟 Bringing Warmth to Our Community: Hampers for the Elderly 🌟
This holiday season, Andor Cards and Barrie Bookkeeping & Payroll Solutions are coming together to support several incredible charities, and we’re especially excited to announce our "Hampers for the Elderly" initiative! 💫
Why are we doing this?
Many elderly community members face isolation, financial challenges, and limited family support. A small act of kindness can mean the world to them.
🎁 Our hampers are filled with essentials and treats, all aimed at bringing comfort and reminding them they’re not alone.
This initiative isn't just about gift-giving—it’s about building connections and fostering a sense of belonging. By taking these steps, we’re investing in a stronger, more compassionate community. 💙
Here’s how it works: 🔹 We’re gathering donations to create hampers tailored for elderly individuals. 🔹 The hampers include everyday items, festive treats.🔹 Our team and partners will be delivering these hampers, connecting with local communities and care homes.
We’re thrilled to lead this effort and hope it inspires others to do the same 💌

Making a Difference This Holiday Season is Easier Than You Think! 🎄
As the holidays approach, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle—but it’s also the perfect time to give back. It may be too close to Christmas and Chanukah to set up a toy drive at your office, but keeping an eye out for those still collecting gifts in your community is a simple way to spread joy.
Think about it: something as small as a toy can make a world of difference to not only a child, but the struggling parent as well. It’s not just a gift; it’s hope, joy, community and the magic of the holidays wrapped up in one.
Getting involved is easy:
✅ Donate a toy – Drop off a new, unwrapped toy at a nearby collection site.
✅ Give online – Even a small donation helps buy gifts for kids who might otherwise go without.
✅ Volunteer your time – Help sort and distribute toys in your community.
Small acts of kindness can create a ripple effect of positivity. Let’s come together to make sure every child experiences the magic of the season.
Together, we can make this holiday unforgettable for so many families.
Thank you Francis Anthony Franco, RICP®️ from Franco Financial Strategies for the opportunity to support Filipino Community of Seattle this holiday season!

This #GivingTuesday, I want to share something deeply personal. Moms in America face massive structural failures every day: the lack of paid family leave, unaffordable child care, and a system that forces impossible choices.
As a single mom for 10 years, I experienced this firsthand. There were countless days I felt alone, trying to do it all without the support that every parent deserves. The sleepless nights, the financial juggling, the constant weight of being both provider and caregiver—it was overwhelming.
But it shouldn’t have to be this way. Moms deserve better. Families deserve better.
That’s why I’m supporting Moms First this Giving Tuesday. They’re leading the charge for real change: paid family leave, affordable child care, and the support systems that moms like me desperately needed—and still need.
If you’re able to give, I hope you’ll join me in supporting their mission. Together, we can help ensure no mom has to carry the burden alone.

We'll keep this brief.
Today, we are asking you to donate to Moms First to show the world that moms are worth investing in.
That goes not just for the incoming administration and Congress, but for C-suite executives whose decisions directly affect our workplaces.
Your support this #GivingTuesday fuels our movement for paid leave, affordable child care, and the structural support moms need to thrive.
We have some exciting things in store for supporters this holiday season — so keep an eye on this page for updates throughout the week.
Not able to donate at the moment? Give us a follow and tag a friend to spread the word.

As we approach the end of the year, it's a time for reflection, gratitude, and giving back. Did you know that in Indiana, approximately 14% of households are food insecure? That's thousands of families and individuals, including children, who struggle to access consistent, nutritious meals. It's a sobering reality—but one we can address together.
I'm proud to serve on the board of Pack Away Hunger, a nonprofit dedicated to combating food insecurity. Through fundraising efforts and volunteer meal-packing events, we create nutritious meal kits that directly support hungry families and communities across Indiana.
Here’s why your support matters:
-Impact on children: 15.2% of Indiana’s youth aged 10-17 are affected by obesity, often linked to limited access to healthy food options.
-Household struggles: Nearly half (46.3%) of households receiving SNAP benefits in Indiana have children—yet many still experience gaps in meeting their nutritional needs.
-Missed meals: In Indianapolis alone, over half a million meals are missed each month due to food insecurity.
Pack Away Hunger is on a mission to change these statistics, one meal kit at a time. But we can’t do it without your help. Whether it’s a financial contribution or volunteering your time, every bit of support helps us put food on the table for those in need.
As we look toward the New Year, let’s take action now. Your donation could be the difference between a family going hungry or having a warm meal this holiday season. Together, we can make a meaningful impact on the lives of so many in our community.
