🎄 This Season, Let’s Share the Joy 🎄 For many of us, this time of year means cosy fires, delicious meals, and the joy of watching children tear into their presents with excitement. But for others, it’s a season of worry—how to protect their loved ones, how to bring a spark of joy to their children amidst challenges like loss, illness, or displacement. This holiday season, countless organisations and charities are working tirelessly to support vulnerable children and families, offering them hope and something to smile about. 🌟 Here’s how you can help: If you’re part of a Common Change Group, now’s the perfect time to raise a request to support families in need. Whether it’s a direct gift to a family you know or a donation to your local community centre or church, your generosity can help lift the burden during the festive season. Not part of a group yet? This year alone, Common Change Groups across the UK have given over £17,000 in direct gifts to those facing hardship—and there’s still time to make an impact! Charity truly does begin at home, as the saying goes. It serves as a reminder that if we cannot show love and care for our own family, how can we extend that love to others? It is a valuable lesson for all of us to remember that charity starts within the walls of our own homes. We must first learn to wholeheartedly care for and love our family before we can share that love with the outside world. It is our primary responsibility to prioritize serving our family before others, and to fulfill our duties towards them above all else. While some may argue that this means prioritizing our family's needs over those of others, others interpret this proverb as emphasizing the importance of teaching children about charity within the home. Children learn by example, so when parents demonstrate love, generosity, and a commitment to social causes, their children are likely to follow suit and contribute positively to society. By setting a positive example, parents can instill the value of giving back in their children, who will in turn pass on these teachings to future generations. On the other hand, if children witness their parents mistreating those in need, they are more likely to replicate that behavior. Therefore, it is crucial to teach our children the importance of kindness and generosity, as it can help build a more compassionate and supportive society. #CharityBeginsAtHome #FamilyFirst #SpreadLove #CompassionStartsAtHome #ActsOfKindness

As we embrace the season of gratitude, Brighton Our World encourages everyone to find meaningful ways to give thanks and show appreciation in their communities. Here are a few ideas to inspire acts of kindness and gratitude: 1. Volunteer Your Time: Offer your time at local shelters, food banks, or community centers. Even a few hours can make a big difference to those in need. 2. Support Local Businesses: Show your gratitude to local entrepreneurs by shopping at local stores, dining at local restaurants, or leaving positive reviews online. 3. Help a Neighbor: Whether it's raking leaves, shoveling snow, or just checking in, small acts of service can strengthen community bonds and show you care. 4. Write Thank You Notes: A handwritten note can express appreciation in a way that digital messages cannot. Consider writing notes to community helpers like teachers, healthcare workers, and postal workers. 5. Donate to Local Charities: Support local causes that make a difference in your community. Monetary donations or donations of goods can both have a significant impact. 6. Host a Community Meal: Organize a potluck or barbecue to bring neighbors together and create an opportunity for connection and thanks. Let's use this time to spread kindness and thanks across our communities. Every gesture of gratitude makes our world a little brighter! #BrightonOurWorld #CommunityGratitude #GiveThanks #ActsOfKindness

#volunteer Yes, you. In a world where need is great, giving can be greater. Conversation recently: this is why you have us. Response: I know, but sometimes I feel like it’s all on me. I encourage you to donate a conversation, a redline, an introduction. Perhaps even a committee or board time allotment. Despite your schedule, I guarantee that - if you have the mental and emotional capacity right now - you have the gift to give. I also guarantee you are needed and that most people won’t say how much they need you. Pause. Breathe. Chin up. You’ve got this, fellow volunteer 😁 And you are needed. ♥️ #servantleadership

🌐The willingness to share does not make one charitable; it makes one free.🌏 🌐As each of us has spent time on planet Earth chances are that someone has recommended that you "take some time for self-care." Maybe a friend/family has encouraged you to enjoy a "treat yo' self" kind of day. Maybe they’ve told you to make yourself a bubble bath or meditate or do Anulom Vilom. ❣️At the heart of all this advice is the same operational principle: If you want to feel better, you need to do the labor yourself, for yourself. 💫That's why some experts/ community organizers ask that people consider practicing another form of compassion: community care. 👨👨👧👧Community care is a better stepping stone than self-care. It addresses the fact that we're naturally cooperative. We require validation from one another to psychologically persevere and be resilient. That's where community care offers something different. We're doing it together and trying to survive in a system . 💪Together we can achieve more 👩👩👧👨👨👧👧👬 #linkedininsights #linkedinfamily #linkedinlife
