The Professors Of Funk Friends & Family Christmas Special was nothing short of magical, bringing together our wonderful community in the spirit of music, joy, and giving. The proceeds will go directly to supporting those struggling with addiction, homelessness, hunger, and severe mental health issues. Please visit chickfila.northoshawa on Instagram for the daily updates and more information. Corporate support is imperative to feeding 150-200 hot meals a day, 6 days a week- please don't hesitate to reach out if your business would like to assist. #WeAreYourPeople

  • Yvonne shares her thoughts about the homelessness crisis in Oshawa. Please take a minute to listen to her words. "An awful lots of people have negative connotations about the homeless. But I find they are a very caring group of people." WE ARE LISTENING provides a platform for the forgotten voices in our city to be heard. If you have a curious spirit, love to learn and listen to authentic stories, this series is for you. The Back Door Mission for the Relief of Poverty serves community members who are in need and experiencing homelessness. Our hope is that through the power of story, Oshawa citizens will see the collective strength of our entire community. We believe when people feel seen and heard, positive change is possible. • Our Executive Director, Nathan Gardner, joined a distinguished panel and engaging discussion on mental health and addictions at the "Surviving Addictions" event yesterday. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Centre of Innovation at Durham College for hosting this impactful gathering. The remarkable turnout of allies was truly inspiring. We are grateful to the fellow panelists: Beth Brannon from Lakeridge Health , filmmaker Chris Cull, Professor Carl Legault from Durham College, and Facilitator K. Jennifer Bedford also from Durham College. For those interested, the docu-series "Surviving Addiction" is available on YouTube. This powerful series explores diverse perspectives of individuals affected by addiction, highlighting the profound human experiences behind these stories. The project is a collaboration between Durham College Alumni Chris Cull, and the Social Impact Hub at Durham College. #WeAreYourPeople

  • Raising children to be advocates for vulnerable people is essential for fostering a compassionate, just, and inclusive society. By instilling values of empathy, kindness, and social responsibility in our children, we empower them to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. This cultivates a generation that values and strives for the dignity and well-being of all individuals. In a beautiful circle, our children become our North Star. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our friend and Beaver Scout Wyatt for raising $303.65 for the Back Door Mission. He got a tour of the mission to see how the dollars he raised are spent. We wish him the best of luck on his North Star Project. Thank you for being part of our village, Wyatt. #WeAreYourPeople Scouts Canada #NorthStar
