So, I hired a Partnerships Manager last year. Let’s call her Joan. The job was simple: book 20 qualified calls per month. That way, I could focus on running the company and just hop on calls to close deals. Fast forward to the end of the month, I check in, expecting 20 calls lined up. What do I find? 4 calls. Yep, four. I can’t even describe what I felt in that moment. But no point on getting upset, so I called Joan to find out what happened. Her answer? "Thiago, I tried EVERYTHING! Sent emails, made calls, followed up. I was grinding all month." I’m like... really? You tried everything and still hit 4 calls? Let me be blunt: effort alone doesn’t impress me. Sure, Joan was working hard, but effort without results is a participation trophy. And I don’t pay for participation trophies. Results over effort – every. single. time. I didn’t hire Joan to “try.” I hired her to book 20 calls. That was the deal. It was clear. I wasn’t paying for her to check boxes—I was paying for a result. Some might say, “You could’ve checked in earlier.” I get it. But when you hire someone for a job, you expect them to get it done. I don’t micromanage. If I wanted to do that, I’d just do it myself. If someone’s struggling, I expect them to ask for help before the deadline. Did Joan? Nope. But Joan’s story isn’t unique. It happens often, which is why I focus on results from the start. Most businesses get it wrong by managing effort instead of outcomes. If you want to grow, here’s how: - Get your team to chase outcomes, not tasks. - Celebrate wins, not work. - Keep performance visible and your team accountable. Effort feels good, but results grow your business. If a BDR hits 20/30 calls, I don’t care if they’re working from home while watching Netflix. Why? Because they get the job done. So, let me ask: is your business getting the results it needs, or are you stuck managing effort? Focus on results. I'll be cheering for you.

If I started a new job as a partnerships manager today, here are the 7 things I'd do: 1 - Become the jack-of-all-trades for your company In the first 90 days, aim to be 70% proficient in everything from sales pitches to product demos. You need to understand your business inside and out before you can effectively partner. 2 - Get on sales calls immediately Listen to how customers describe their challenges. Develop relationships with the sales team. They'll be crucial for hitting your numbers. 3 - Network internally like crazy Set up meetings with department heads. Ask what they care about, what they're responsible for, and how they think partnerships can help. If they don't know, educate them. 4 - Gather data and set realistic expectations Use industry benchmarks and internal historical data (if available) to inform your strategy. Don't promise immediate revenue - it typically takes 6-18 months for a new program to produce results. 5 - Focus on inputs, not just outputs Track leading indicators like partner conversations, program sign-ups, and leads generated. Revenue will come later once you understand your funnel. 6 - Be transparent with potential partners If your program isn't ready, tell them. Respect their time and set clear expectations on when you'll be prepared to engage. 7 - Align with company goals Make sure your partnership strategy supports broader business objectives. Show executives how you'll drive value across the organization. The key is laying a strong foundation before diving into deals. Take the time to truly understand your business, build internal relationships, and set up the right processes. That's how you'll create a partnership program built for long-term success. Anything you would add to the list?

We're excited about expanding our real estate ventures, but the big question is how? 🤔 Should we grow with a local team that already has a blueprint or partner with others like Vivian in Austin? Whether it's a lead generation model, co-hosting, or property management, the possibilities are endless. We're navigating partnerships and ensuring all boxes are checked before making any decisions. #RealEstateExpansion #Partnerships #LeadGeneration #CoHosting #PropertyManagement #RealEstateInvesting #BusinessGrowth #StrategicPlanning #Networking #EntrepreneurLife #AustinMarket #Collaboration #SuccessStrategy #InvestmentOpportunities #RealEstateJourney

🚀 As a Business Development Manager, here’s one thing I’ve learned: Opportunity doesn’t knock, it sends emails at 2 a.m.! 😅 Being a BDM means constantly balancing between strategy, relationships, and a whole lot of caffeine ☕. You’ve got to spot trends, connect with potential clients, and close deals—sometimes all before breakfast 🥐. But here’s the thing: it’s not just about finding new business. It’s about building lasting partnerships that bring value on both sides. The best BDMs know that it’s less about selling, and more about helping businesses grow. And yes, sometimes that means: -Crafting the perfect follow-up email 🤓 -Braving the awkwardness of a call that gets dropped halfway through 📞 -And, of course, pretending you fully understood the “urgent” request you got at 5 p.m. on a Friday 😬. At the end of the day, what I love most is seeing a win-win situation come together. It’s not always easy, but the reward is worth it. What’s one goal you're working on this week? Let’s share some positivity and success! 💪 #BusinessDevelopment #Sales #GrowthMindset #TeamWork #WinningTogether #BDMLife

Before you think about building a sales team, consider this: your next big growth channel might be hiding in plain sight. 🕵️♀️ I'm talking about partner programs. Not just any partner program, but one that taps into the goldmine of connections that consultants and coaches already have. It's like having thousands of sales people in your team, all working on a commission basis to grow your business. Think about it. These partners have spent years building relationships, understanding pain points, and building trust. They're basically walking, talking, lead-generating machines. And the best part? They're already out there, just waiting for the right opportunity (aka YOUR product) to come along. Take Snov.io for example and Ludmila Ribeiro. They've mastered the art of proactively seeking out partners to fuel their growth. It's like they're throwing the best party in town, and everyone wants an invite. 🎉 But here's the thing: building a partner program isn't just about slapping together some commission rates and watching the money come in. It's about nurturing relationships, providing value, and creating a win-win scenario. Because let me tell you, hell hath no fury like a neglected partner. Just ask PhantomBuster. Their partner program is a masterclass in what NOT to do. It's like inviting someone over for dinner and then forgetting to cook. Not cool. 💡 Remember: Your partners are an extension of your brand. Treat them well, and they'll sing your praises from the rooftops. Treat them poorly, and... well, let's just say word travels fast in this digital age. So, before you start dreaming about that fancy sales team, ask yourself: 1. Who in my network could become a powerful partner? 2. What unique value can I offer to make a partnership irresistible? 3. How can I structure a program that's a win for everyone involved? Building a fast scaling partner program isn't just smart business—it's relationship building on steroids. And in this world of limited time and resources, those relationships might just be your secret weapon. What's been your experience with partner programs? Have they worked for you? #b2b #saas #startup

You might be leaving your biggest growth lever untapped Partnerships are one of if not the most effective growth channels. If done properly. But here’s the kicker. Partnership teams are often underutilized due to poor support and alignment. CFOs aiming to reduce costs and boost growth should recognize partnerships, because partnerships have lower a lower CAC than any other direct channel Here’s why partnerships matter: Leverage Trust and Networks: Partnerships allow you to tap into the established trust and networks that your partners have built over time. This isn’t just about referrals—when a partner vouches for you, it amplifies your credibility across all your direct channels. Suddenly, your cold outreach isn’t so cold anymore, and your marketing efforts start to resonate more deeply with prospects. The trust partners bring to the table acts as a multiplier, making every channel you use more effective. High-Quality Leads: In my last role, partners' leads were game-changers. They were golden opportunities. We saw a close rate that was twice our average, deals closed 20% faster, and the average customer value (ACV) was 40% higher. Why? Because these leads came in pre-qualified and pre-trusted, making the sales process smoother and more efficient. When a partner sends a lead your way, they’ve already done a lot of the heavy lifting, allowing your sales team to focus on closing rather than convincing. If you want to lower your CAC and drive growth, start leveraging the power of partnerships. 🚀

Timing is everything in partnerships. If your direct sales and marketing aren't firing on all cylinders yet, partnerships might struggle too. Before you expect partners to drive leads and revenue, ensure you have clarity on how to do that yourself. Your partners will rely on the pitch, materials, and processes that have proven successful for you. And let’s be honest—if you’re under a time crunch (like needing to show results in a month), it might be time to reset expectations. Focus on what works now, even if it means pivoting away from partnerships for a bit. In tight timelines, the goal isn't necessarily to drive revenue through partnerships—it's to drive revenue, period. Adapt, reset, and focus on the immediate growth that can save your job and demonstrate your value.

The hardest part in business development is dedicating time and effort toward a clear end goal while embracing a mindset of giving without expecting anything immediate in return. It’s about genuine relationship building, trust, and value creation, rather than pushing for instant results. If you passed the marshmallow test when you were in first grade, you have the potential of being amazing in business dev 😄 What business dev isn't: ❎ Pitching or Selling – It’s not about making a quick sale. ❎ Networking for Gains – It’s more than transactional networking. ❎ Only Transactional – Focuses on partnerships, not one-off deals. ❎ Chasing Every Lead – Quality over quantity, led by strategy in Ideal Customer Profile ❎Revenue Only – It's not just about the immediate revenue, think about Lifetime Value of a client, or potential indirect benefits What business dev is: ☑️ Strategic Growth – Building strategies for lasting growth ☑️ Building Trust – Establishing genuine credibility ☑️ Data-Driven – Using insights to guide decisions ☑️ Giving First – Offering value without immediate returns ☑️ Relationship-Driven – Growing connections with patience ☑️ Attracting Talent – Bringing in and keeping top talent ☑️ Adaptable – Staying open to new ideas and trends. ☑️ Creating Synergies – Seeking mutual benefits in partnerships. What are you doing today to build and scale your business? #Business #Development
