Todays design tasks included: - Finalising a paid re-branding bento grid and homepage hero section test for a client. Went well, very happy, looking sexy 🔥 Moving forwards with a paid plan start of next week. - Evolving the branding of a Web3 startup, crafting 6x variants for their brand inclusive of ice glacial textures, glass and creating a brand pattern for them, addressing their concerns and utilising assets from the previous version from another agency. - Creating a bunch of fun summery AI images and product shots of cocktails - Creating a landing page that plays with shapes, bright popping colours and fun UX for a mocktail product launch SO enjoyable 🤩- Loving working with some amazing startups and teams to create such great and fulfilling work. I genuinely think most websites don't work for businesses, it's a shame. But there are clear reasons why they don't work 🛑 Here's a list that we see working on websites everyday at Superbrick: No offer/value on the website (Book a Call is not value, it's actually way more effort) Just talking about your business (Give them something in return) No strategy to bring people to their website, or strategy at all (They don't even post online and expect automatic traffic to their site, let alone other channels) - Focus way too much on design than functionality and messaging (15 sliding carousels won't help someone convert) - Also not focusing on design at all (You can definitely tell this website was built on a WordPress site builder) - Forms are way too long (Why do you want to find out their life story?) - Very unclear on messaging (They want to say everything, people just want value and to understand if you can help them) Out of all of this though, if you don't provide value and don't have anyone coming to your site, you will never have a successful website asset. You could literally just have a 1-page site, but if provides value and there is a growth in traffic going there, you will set results! Is there anything I am missing?

No inspirational/thought-provoking post today. I'm busy banging my head against the web development wall. The PurpleSec site redesign has been a long and arduous process. I'm a team of one responsible for: - Creating images - UX/UI design - Page layout - Loading content/publishing pages - Content development - Probably a lot more to list... I'm excited to both be done with the project and sharing it with the world! #marketing #website #cybersecurity

Ever wondered how long the average website lasts? Yep - 5 Years 5 years until the average site can't be upgraded 5 years until you start to see security issues 4.5 years till you need to start thinking of redeveloping it As someone who has been designing/building sites for 14 years, I find this is the average.

❓ Are your forms accessible for all users? ❓ Not sure why it matters? By catering to those using screen-readers, or colour-blind users, you make sure allllll visitors to your site have a frustration-free experience when they're trying to get in touch. A quick test you can run is: 1️⃣ Bring up the form/s on your site 2️⃣ Hit Submit/Send without completing any fields 3️⃣ Check if all of your mandatory fields are highlighted AND have inline error messages 4️⃣ If not, there's an immediate opportunity to improve the accessibility and user experience of your site, by helping your users complete your form I've popped an example in, to explain what I mean. But there's a still a couple of improvements I'd make to help this form be really top-notch. Any guesses what they are? #userexperience #accessibility #contentdesign

A new week means new opportunities. Today it's ICP & Website v2.0 action, including: 1) Evolving my ICP - It's agencies for sure- but my current offering could be more flexible, so I'm spending time diving deep on this to pad out exactly who I'm going for in the design agency world. 2) Structuring core narrative UX for the Prismal v2.0 website. 3) Implementing core copy for the new site. Prismal site v1.0 is fine- it shows the work and explains the offering clearly- however- I, as a person and my desire as a business is more creative and dynamic than the current site presents. It was intended as a client-facing v1.0, which is exactly what it is- but now it's time to evolve and refine what I'm offering, and the way that's presented to crystal clearly target my ICP. What are you working on this week?

I spend 50% of a client project on the hero section This might sound like a lot but here’s why... 80% of the visitors will leave before getting past it So make an effort to keep the remaining 20% Here’s how: → Use clear navigation menus → Write straight forward headlines → Use high quality & relevant images → Always use social proof for credibility Always avoid: → Writing and using click bait headlines → Using stock images and videos → Manipulation of social proof → Many call to actions P.S: Below are the best hero sections for this week What’s your favorite?!

An 'AI' FYI for designers and design teams using Figma. If you’re on a Starter or Professional plan, Figma AI is currently training on your content/data unless you manually opt out. By default, content training is turned off for Organisation and Enterprise plans. One part of the fine print stood out to me: “Content training went into effect on August 15, 2024. If an admin turns off content training after this date, new content and edits will not be used to train AI models.” Essentially, if you switch off AI training now, only NEW content you create won’t be fed into the models to train. So, if you’re just becoming aware of this and you're on a Starter or Professional plan, it’s likely that all your 'de-identified' existing data has already been used to train Figma's AI model and sent to AI subprocessors (OpenAI) over the past few months. My thoughts… Every software app is rolling out an AI feature, but the automatic opt-in using existing data to train feels a bit cheeky. It’s worth considering what cloud software you currently use, what data is stored in it, and how comfortable you are with that data potentially being used to train AI models. For Figma users: Do you have confidential company information, reports, or slide decks in Figma containing content that you wouldn’t have intentionally sent to OpenAI?
