Have you ever encountered a Queen Bee in your workplace? This usually occurs in male-dominated or super competitive environments where the Queen Bee (a woman in a position of power) may adopt competitive behaviours to preserve her unique status, often at the expense of other women. This can create a hostile environment for new female leaders. Are We More Invested in Titles or True Expertise? The other day, I was chatting with some friends about a trend that seems so common, especially here in Africa: the pursuit of titles without the credentials to back them up. We laughed, but it’s a serious topic that impacts our culture and leadership. I find it fascinating—and telling—that some of the most educated people value credentials and knowledge over titles. It’s as if those who have truly earned their place don’t feel the need for labels to validate them. Titles can be powerful, yes, but they should be the result of experience, effort, and commitment—not just a status symbol. What do you think? Are we, as a generation, too focused on titles? Ali’s impact on my professional journey has been profound, and her leadership style left an indelible mark. What Ali Taught Me  Guidance Beyond Tasks: Ali went beyond mere task delegation. She taught me not only what needed to be done but, more importantly, how it should be done. Her emphasis on quality, ethics, and collaboration shaped my approach to work. Strength with Respect: Ali exemplified strength in leadership. She was assertive, yet always respectful. Her ability to navigate challenges while maintaining empathy for others was inspiring. Positive Challenges: Ali challenged me to stretch my limits. Her constructive feedback pushed me to grow, and I learned that discomfort often leads to growth.
