Two things stood out for me in these interview shorts.
First, performance currency can get you into the room but may not get you where you need to be. I recall one particular year as a manager when my boss told me that he had not personally recommended a performance bonus for me; other executives had, and they believed I had done a great job.
Now, I wonder how any of you female leaders would have reacted.
The second point that stood out is that if no one recognises your efforts, you need to change where you are, not who you are. Do not try to please people who do not recognise your talents. As a hard-working female leader, find the right sponsor or new employer and move forward.
What's your best advice for women seeking leadership roles?
According to some of the most successful female leaders, it's about adaptability.
💡 Operating with "perseverance and passion" was essential to award-winning film director Patty Jenkins’s success in Hollywood.
💡 Essence CEO Caroline Wanga credits authenticity and getting past imposter syndrome as crucial to her path to leadership.
💡 Huma Abedin, the former chief of staff of Hillary Clinton, says to "consider doing the thing that scares you most."
