Celebrating International Women’s Day: A Tribute to Alison Parr On International Women’s Day, I want to express my gratitude to one of my earliest female leaders and mentors, Alison Parr. Ali’s impact on my professional journey has been profound, and her leadership style left an indelible mark. What Ali Taught Me Guidance Beyond Tasks: Ali went beyond mere task delegation. She taught me not only what needed to be done but, more importantly, how it should be done. Her emphasis on quality, ethics, and collaboration shaped my approach to work. Strength with Respect: Ali exemplified strength in leadership. She was assertive, yet always respectful. Her ability to navigate challenges while maintaining empathy for others was inspiring. Positive Challenges: Ali challenged me to stretch my limits. Her constructive feedback pushed me to grow, and I learned that discomfort often leads to growth. Empathy Matters: Ali’s empathy toward colleagues fostered a supportive work environment. She understood that success is collective, not individual. During the formative years of my career, Ali’s mentorship provided a solid foundation. Her wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering belief in my potential fuelled my ambition. Ali, if you’re reading this, know that your legacy lives on. May your well-deserved retirement be filled with joy, relaxation, and new adventures. Thank you for being an exceptional leader and role model! #InternationalWomensDay #Leadership #Mentorship #WomenInBusiness #CareerJourney

Today, on International Women's Day, I want to spotlight three leaders who have influenced my professional journey. These incredible women have shaped my career and left an indelible mark on my leadership, strategy, and collaboration approach. Kati Ryan was my first enablement boss, and she taught me many things. She taught me how to use my skills as a part of a team. She patiently listened to my 100+ ideas on a topic and helped me focus on the best ones. She encouraged and fostered my creativity, which I have used ever since. Cindy Thatcher hired me shortly after I was laid off in 2020. She helped me navigate an older and larger company than I had worked in before. She encouraged me to stretch from relying on my enablement abilities to working with and leading my fellow global enablement team members. Shannon Mackinnon was my enablement boss at Medallia. She championed my use of creativity and, more than any other boss, helped me become a better manager (which took much work). These women are not just former bosses. Over the years, I have reached out to them for guidance, and they have reached out to me. They are mentors, trailblazers, and pioneers who have blazed paths not only for those fortunate enough to work directly under their guidance but also for countless others. As we celebrate International Women's Day, let's remember the impact that strong, dedicated women leaders have on our lives and careers. To Kati, Cindy, and Shannon, thank you for your leadership, wisdom, and unwavering support. You do not just shape careers; you shape lives. #InternationalWomensDay #Leadership #WomenInLeadership #Gratitude #Mentorship #Inspiration

I was told "You'll never make it in business" And how my dreams are just that - dreams. But today I wish I could thank that person. Because he became the fuel to my fire that led me to: - 6-figure business through my mission to get more women promoted to senior leadership - Inspire females across the globe to take up leadership roles and breakthrough glass ceilings - Help them become top leaders in male-dominated industries At some point as a female leader, you might face: - Lack of respect for your brilliant contributions - Judgement on how you're "too ambitious" - Judgement on your abilities because of your gender But here's what I've learned the hard way in 25 years... Your journey is yours alone. → Unique and incomparable Your strength is not measured against others, → But by the barriers you break on your path Your success is defined not by outdoing others, → But by outdoing your own doubts And most importantly, It's never about proving those naysayers wrong. But proving to yourself that you can exceed your own expectations. So for every voice that says "You can't" Let your success scream "I did." 💛 #leadershipdevelopment #professionalwomen P.S If you’re having a hard time breaking through in your role, my upcoming FREE workshop on 10th April covers 4 shifts you need to overcome your promotion woes. I don’t know when I’ll do it again so don’t miss out! (Link in comments)

When did you last reflect on your career? I have just spent the weekend in Palm Cove at Amanda Blesing FARPI Women in Leadership retreat. This is the time where I reflect on the last 12 months and plan my career approach for the future. I have been coming to this retreat (in one way or another) for the last 5 years and cannot believe how far I’ve come. I was speaking with another attendee who I met at my first retreat and she reminded me of my original plan. She said “you’ve achieved everything you set out to achieve” and I thought, oh wow! I have. I have never been afraid to pivot my career, to me the fear comes from stagnation and a lack of clarity. I use this short break to reframe and reset and reconnect with wonderful women. This time around, I learnt 3 key things: 1. When you allow your self time to pause your plans have space to germinate. 2. When you surround yourself with positivity you find answers to challenges you thought were insurmountable. 3. Sharing stories and learning from others shows you that you are not alone in your career journey. These are the invaluable leassons I have taken away. When have you allowed yourself time to reflect? 🍂🌷☘️Community connection starts with being in rooms where you can truly understand the lived experience of people who have broken through the bamboo ceiling into the C-Suite and how they take others on the journey by sharing their wisdom. How can you understand the experiences of people if you don't spend time to really listen to these stories. How can you be a great leader with understanding people's dreams, passions, challenges and experiences. 💎"Stick to your true self" and "Push, Be Assertive and Stand your Ground" are often mindsets that develop after years of experience. The Asian Leadership Project championed by Julie Chai continues to break ground and it was a privilege to see and hear what great leadership and serious talent looks like, and what it will look like for future generations. Really inspiring stories, insights and pearls of wisdom by the panelists Sarah Loh, Yash Sodhi & Niraj Pau FCPA, GAICD, where real conversations were surfaced. Such an inclusive room and just the pick me up needed. Always love capturing great moments and never too far away with a camera in hand. Thanks. I’ve been thinking a lot about authentic confidence lately and how important it is for us as women to develop as part of our leadership skills. Authentic confidence comes from within and is based on an innate and unwavering belief in yourself; it’s not based on the approval of others or from external acknowledgements. It empowers us to take risks, feel confident in our decisions, and to persevere in situations that may seem ambiguous, difficult, or even insurmountable. Authentic confidence gives us the ability to say and do things that others are not saying and doing. It helps us take that first step towards an unknown outcome, without any indicator that what we’re doing is “right”. Most importantly, authentic confidence gives us the ability to believe in ourselves, our thoughts, our insights and our convictions, all of which help us to become confident, healthy leaders. But authentic confidence is not always going to come from the things that make us feel good about ourselves. In fact, another important part of developing authentic confidence is to accept all aspects of ourselves, including our flaws–YES, even our flaws! This may sound counter-intuitive, but self-acceptance is a big part of authentic confidence. Accepting your full self for who you are, as you are, shines a light on parts of yourself that you may be ashamed of and hesitant to show to the rest of the world, especially to your co-workers! What I’ve found is that by accepting our perceived flaws (and I say “perceived” because usually these aren’t flaws at all), we remove the power that they have over us and gain the strength to show up at work embodying our full selves in an authentically confident way. This authentic confidence is what empowers you to be a strong leader! Take some time to reflect on one aspect of yourself that you intentionally hide from your co-workers. Practice self-acceptance by committing to being more open and honest about this part of yourself any time it comes up in conversation. Let me know how it goes! #femaleempowerment #womenempowerment #selfimprovement #selfempowerment #womenleaders #womeninleadership #limitingbeliefs #womenintech #careerdevelopment #motivation #inspiration https://lnkd.in/ent6N6aE

"I’ve checked all the boxes, yet I still feel unfulfilled. What am I missing?" I’ve heard this sentiment from so many women who’ve achieved everything they were supposed to—successful careers, stable relationships, comfortable lives—yet still feel like something's missing. The truth is, checking boxes doesn’t guarantee fulfillment. It’s not about what you achieve; it’s about whether those achievements align with your true desires and values. If you feel this way, you’re not alone. It might be time to ask yourself: Whose expectations am I living up to? What do I truly want? Here's a tip from one High Skilled Immigrant Women to another: Invest in programs that align with your values and help you grow authentically, such as leadership branding or coaching. Companies can play a crucial role in addressing this by: 👉 Pair HSIWs with mentors who can guide them in navigating cultural nuances and professional challenges. 👉 Celebrate contributions that go beyond traditional metrics, acknowledging the unique strengths HSIWs bring to the table. You don’t need to face this alone. Let’s start a conversation about how we can create environments where everyone truly belongs. Sign up to the waitlist and dive into Wanderwomen to discover more stories and strategies for overcoming these barriers. Share your story and join the conversation on redefining leadership! Thriving as a Black Woman Leader in 2025 "To all the extraordinary Black women stepping into leadership—whether you're leading in your workplace, your community, or your household as a single mother—remember this: you are already a leader. Your resilience, vision, and unwavering strength inspire those around you every day. As we move into 2025, let’s focus on building the confidence and clarity needed to lead with purpose and thrive in every role you embrace." Here are 5 Strategies to Help You Lead With Confidence in 2025: Own Your Power: True leadership starts with self-confidence. Acknowledge your strengths, honor your achievements, and silence the inner critic. You deserve every success that comes your way. Set Purposeful Goals: Start the New Year with intention. Break your goals into actionable steps and hold yourself accountable. Small wins create momentum toward bigger dreams. Prioritize Your Well-Being: A thriving leader prioritizes self-care. Create space for rest, reflection, and activities that nurture your mind, body, and soul. When you’re at your best, everything else flows. Build Meaningful Connections: Leadership doesn’t happen alone. Surround yourself with people who challenge, support, and inspire you. Seek mentors and peers who align with your vision. Lead Authentically: Whether at work, in your community, or at home, lead with integrity. Be true to who you are, and let your actions reflect the values you stand for. "As Audre Lorde said, ‘When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.’ Step boldly into 2025 knowing you are capable of leading the life you envision." ✨ Here’s to thriving, breaking barriers, and leading with purpose in 2025! #BlackWomenThrive #LeadershipWithPurpose #ConfidentAndResilient #SelfCareForLeaders #GoalSettingSuccess
