I’ve been thinking a lot about authentic confidence lately and how important it is for us as women to develop as part of our leadership skills. Authentic confidence comes from within and is based on an innate and unwavering belief in yourself; it’s not based on the approval of others or from external acknowledgements. It empowers us to take risks, feel confident in our decisions, and to persevere in situations that may seem ambiguous, difficult, or even insurmountable. Authentic confidence gives us the ability to say and do things that others are not saying and doing. It helps us take that first step towards an unknown outcome, without any indicator that what we’re doing is “right”. Most importantly, authentic confidence gives us the ability to believe in ourselves, our thoughts, our insights and our convictions, all of which help us to become confident, healthy leaders. But authentic confidence is not always going to come from the things that make us feel good about ourselves. In fact, another important part of developing authentic confidence is to accept all aspects of ourselves, including our flaws–YES, even our flaws! This may sound counter-intuitive, but self-acceptance is a big part of authentic confidence. Accepting your full self for who you are, as you are, shines a light on parts of yourself that you may be ashamed of and hesitant to show to the rest of the world, especially to your co-workers! What I’ve found is that by accepting our perceived flaws (and I say “perceived” because usually these aren’t flaws at all), we remove the power that they have over us and gain the strength to show up at work embodying our full selves in an authentically confident way. This authentic confidence is what empowers you to be a strong leader! Take some time to reflect on one aspect of yourself that you intentionally hide from your co-workers. Practice self-acceptance by committing to being more open and honest about this part of yourself any time it comes up in conversation. Many women start their careers as natural people-pleasers—making sure everyone’s comfortable, taking on extra work, and saying “yes” even when it stretches them thin. But as we grow in leadership, we realise that true power comes from clarity and boundaries, not endless accommodation. Becoming a great leader means shifting that mindset from pleasing everyone to standing in your values. It’s about saying “yes” when it aligns with your goals and “no” when it doesn’t. It’s recognising that the best leaders aren’t afraid to make tough calls or challenge the status quo. For all the recovering people-pleasers out there, remember that saying “no” isn’t selfish—it’s powerful. When we lead from a place of purpose, we inspire others to do the same. And if you desire some help in identifying your values when it comes to your career, reach out! I have some great techniques to help you figure out what means the most to you; so you can ensure you’re on track to living in alignment 🙌🏽 #mindfluencer #womeninleadership

What does a young offender and a chief executive have in common? 🌟 Whether you’re a young person facing challenges in the justice system or a chief executive navigating corporate demands, we all need a safe space to explore, reflect, and grow. 🌱 For young offenders, this space can be life-changing—it’s a chance to rethink, rebuild, and envision a new path forward. For CEOs and leaders, it’s a break from the relentless pace, a chance to connect with purpose and lead with empathy. In both cases, when we give people the room to explore who they are and who they want to become, we unlock potential, foster resilience, and create a foundation for positive impact—no matter their path. 💪 At Connected Peace Coaching, we’re dedicated to creating a space where leaders can discover their authentic selves, build value-driven lives, and develop careers that are fulfilling, impactful, and high-performing. Are you a Woman in Corporate struggling to be fully yourself in your career? Would you like to take your career to the next level? Navigating competitive corporate environments as a woman can be incredibly challenging. It's difficult to fully be yourself in a space traditionally created by and for men, especially if you're sweet, kind, open, spiritual, and introverted — traits often seen as contrary to the societal image of a strong leader. It might seem like reaching the top requires sacrificing your true self or compromising your personal life and well-being. I strongly believe there's a different path. I believe we need new role models, and we won’t create healthy female leadership models by trying to be something we’re not. If this sounds like you, my new Career Development & Leadership Coaching program might be exactly what you need. Interested in learning more on how to take your career to the next level? Have you ever wondered what sets successful leaders apart? It was a pleasure to be among a wonderful commuity of leaders to share quality time, knowledge and personal essential tips to help us grow and continue to serve in our leadership capacities. These key learnings resonate strongly with me: 🌟 Make Friends Before You Need Them: Building a strong network of (trustworthy and authentic) relationships is vital for success. Whether it's for mentorship, coaching, collaboration, or support during tough times, investing in genuine connections pays forward. 🌟 Take Action - Just Do It: Don't wait for the perfect moment to act. When you identify something that needs to be done, seize the opportunity and take action. Susan Baragwanath shared her inspiring story of courage and persistence, how she transformed the face of education in New Zealand. We need to take the courage to ask for feedback and embrace the mindset of progress over perfection. 🌟 Surround Yourself with the Right People: Oonagh McPhillips reminded us that our environment plays a significant role in shaping your journey. Surround yourself with individuals who inspire, challenge, and uplift you. Cultivate a supportive ecosystem that propels you towards your goals. 🌟 Ask for Help: It's okay not to have all the answers. Recognize when you need assistance and don't hesitate to ask for help. Vulnerability is a strength, and seeking guidance can lead to invaluable insights and growth. The energy in the conference room was palpable, brimming with enthusiasm and positivity, shown by the smiles on each of our faces.Thank you Cassandre Burgess and Jonathan Cave for organising this successful Women Leadership Conference, which not only provided valuable insights but also facilitated the forging of new friendships. And to my co-panelists Olivia Dhordain and PURNIMA MISHRA, I appreciate you all ❤️ #learninganddevelopment , #womenleadership #lifelonglearning
