2Excel Aviation has made a donation from its Community Fund to STAMFORD RUGBY UNION FOOTBALL CLUB LIMITED towards the construction of a new clubhouse that aspires to become a hub for local sports and recreation.   The club wants to replace its current outdated facility with a modern, purpose built one to provide a venue for the local community that can offer somewhere fit for potential uses beyond rugby alone.   Chris Norton, Director and Co-founder of 2Excel Aviation, said: “As an employee-owned business, building value for all our stakeholders is not just monetary.   “Our organisation’s Social Value approach commits us to enhance the experience of everyone and everything our business interacts with, including people, other businesses, suppliers, local communities, and the environment.   “Through our Community Fund we are able to provide Stamford RUFC with a donation towards the creation of an asset that will enrich the lives of its local community, which also includes some of our employees.”   Jai Nairn, Club President at Stamford RUFC, said: “We are very grateful to 2Excel for its generous donation towards realising our dream.   “Our plan is to create a venue that not only complies with Sport England and RFU requirements but can also be offered for other sporting disciplines which our current premises can’t accommodate.   “Research with people in the local area tells us that the community wants somewhere for other sport and exercise, and for groups for art or music; a space for people of all ages to meet and socialise.   “Using locally sourced materials, incorporating a sustainable energy system, and creating a fit-for-purpose car park, we envisage the new facility will be of great benefit to the local area as a whole.”   For more information about the club, and the plans for the new clubhouse, https://lnkd.in/eMVH-mHG

A few weeks back, A Chelsea Football Club super star named Enzo Fernandez posted a live IG story singing an extremely racist song, specifically about French Nationals after the Copa America win for Argentina. Enzo is one of the Prem Leagues most expensive players ever. He is also a a world cup winner. He apologised profusely in the coming days, but the damage was already done to his team mates (of which a few were directly affected) and further pushed the constant, ever-present facet of racism in football. Chelsea Football Club conducted a "thorough" investigation and concluded that they would match Enzos donation to a non-profit with the goal of "ending racism" Chelsea is a football club that is well endowed, has a tremendous brand following, and an icon on in world football. They just made Enzo vice-captain. How do you feel Chelsea executives managed this crisis? What will the effects on the brand, club, and overall team? Did you know that if it wasn't for Shepherd Center's board members, the #ParalympicGames as we know them may have disappeared? In 1996, when the Olympics were coming to Atlanta, the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG) decided not to make a bid for the Paralympics. Shepherd Center board members could not just sit by and watch the tradition of the Paralympics being held in conjunction with the Olympics disappear. So our board members stepped right up and threw Shepherd Center's hat into the ring as a founding sponsor of the Games, which began a massive fund-raising campaign that raised tens of millions of dollars. Even the staff members volunteered as judges, and Shepherd Center invited participants to train in Shepherd's pool and weight rooms. THE ERIC LIDDELL 100 TODAY is the day that we have all been waiting for, it is exactly 100 years to the day, 11th July 1924, that Eric Liddell won gold in the 400m race at the Paris Olympics, breaking the World Record in the process. Eric won this race, yet he wasn't even meant to be competing in it. Being a devoted Christian, Eric refused to run his preferred 100m race as it was taking place on a Sunday, and instead opted for the much trickier 400m race, and the rest is history. History that many may be familiar with due to the success of the Oscar-winning film, Chariots of Fire. There is no doubt that this had a massive impact on ensuring that Eric's legacy was secured, but The Eric Liddell 100 initiative was set up to make sure that Eric's story and values were passed on to everyone, including generations to come. By setting up resources relevant to all in order we aim to inspire the next generation and secure, cherish and celebrate the legacy of Eric Liddell. A massive part of being able to do this has been the generosity of everyone who has committed time, money and resources towards The Eric Liddell 100, and there is still time to help.
