  • It is 121 years today since the Wright Brothers made the first sustained powered flight. They would no doubt be amazed to see what we are doing with that idea, and how we continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in aviation across the defence and security sectors, within aircraft engineering, events, disaster response, and so much more. We excel at doing difficult things well, and we think Orville and Wilbur would approve. We are currently recruiting for a number of roles across the 2Excel family. • It’s #InternationalVolunteeringDay! Our employees can choose to support the communities they are a part of with our Company Volunteering Policy which gives each colleague two days of additional paid leave per year for volunteering. Since the introduction of the policy, we’ve seen employees take part in a host of activities, including environment conservation days, coaching sports, supporting a homelessness charity, D-Day commemorations, outreach activities with RAF veterans, working in a haunted house attraction, and working on a heritage steam railway. We know that volunteering helps us to build relationships within our local communities, improves personal wellbeing and assists with our corporate commitment to social values by giving something back.

  • Women from across the 2Excel Group met to officially launch the 2Excel Women’s Network this month by taking part in a one-day actor-based workshop to enable self-mastery for presentations, meetings and more, with professional actor, musician, university lecturer and disabled aviator, Charlotte Storey. Using her stage craft as an actor and performer, and her experience as a lecturer in theatre skills and voice coaching, Charlotte has overcome a life-limiting disability and developed a unique training style which has helped many in the public eye, and she is now working to share her skills with corporate clients. The workshop she delivered for our Women’s Network included modules on presentation skills, self-esteem, and persuasive communication, with tips on how to approach some of the challenges and barriers felt whilst working in an historically male sector. Charlotte said: “I am honoured to be part of such an empowering initiative, and to all the incredible delegates for their openness and engagement. “Seeing these talented women unlock their full potential and tap into new levels of self-assurance was both inspiring and rewarding. “I'm excited to have found my niche working with women in aviation!” The day was attended by women from many of our teams and departments across the country. Louise Campbell, Group HR Director, said: “It was great to see representation from across the Group at our inaugural event, and for colleagues to meet in person, share experiences and take away something valuable. “One of the ways in which we can support our female workforce – and each other - is through our Women’s Network, providing a space that encourages women, and anyone who supports women, to meet regularly and discuss meaningful topics while driving diversity, and inclusion (D&I) initiatives. “The Network also understands that men need to be part of the gender equality conversation, so we will be inviting and encouraging regular participation in our meetings and activities.”
