There are countless tools to choose from when creating a podcast. I've tried lots of them over the last three years so you don't have to. Here are the 3 tools that I choose to create and publish my podcast every week. 🚀 1 - SquadCast.fm by Descript 🚀 Squadcast has become my go-to in-browser remote recording software. We tried virtually every platform out there and for our needs, this was perfect. The interface is pretty and easy to use, we've had no issues with bugs and it records in the high quality we need. Last year Squadcast joined Descript so both tools now come bundled which made the choice even easier. 🎥 2 - Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 🎥 Davinci is film industry standard video editing software with a free version that is feature-packed. After each recording, I vision switch between myself, my cohost, and a 3rd split screen of us both. The Fairlight Audio system also delivers what I need to do intricate audio processing. I can rely on a single software to export processed video and audio. The final color grading tools are also a great bonus for that professional look I want on our show. 🎨 3 - Canva 🎨 We use Canva for all our YouTube Thumbnails and Social Media Memes. My co-host John has no Photoshop experience and began using Canva only a few months ago. He was able to pick up the technical side in no time which allowed him to unleash his creativity. We have become total Canva fanboys like so many others. 🌟Let me know if you'd like some more info on the hardware we use and the platforms we use to distribute.🌟

Clients have increasingly been asking me about video editing in addition to the audio production work I do as The Podcast Editor. Last week, I took an intensive three-day Adobe Premiere Pro training through Manhattan Edit Workshop with Kiri Roberts. As much as I'd like to focus on audio-first content creation, and believe that a proper "podcast" refers to on-demand audio, there is no denying the increased demand for video to accompany a podcast. So somewhat reluctantly, I’m now retraining and incorporating video into my skillset and workflow. I see this as another step on my Adobe software journey…first working in PageMaker, then InDesign, and of course Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and of course making the jump from ProTools to Audition about four years ago. I’ve enjoyed thinking about why a cut was made, and whether it makes sense for a story, plus I’ve always been fascinated by the sound design part of production. Here's hoping that by learning this software I’m off to another auspicious career leap. #podcast #videopodcast #audiovisual #production #contentcreation #socialmedia

🎥 How to Edit a Video Podcast Intro for YouTube 🎥 Creating a video podcast intro is one of the most exciting parts of podcast editing. It's where creativity truly shines through! 🌟 Recently, I had the pleasure of working on a project for Ryan from the What the Futures! podcast. Using Pro Tools, Envato Elements, After Effects, and Adobe Premiere, I transformed his vision into a stunning, professional video intro. 🔊 Sound Design: From layering audio effects to synchronizing music rhythmically with video edits, the audio production process is incredibly fulfilling. For Ryan’s intro, I used tractor sounds and farm noises to match his podcast's theme, creating an immersive experience. 🎨 Visual Elements: In After Effects, I played with templates, graphics, and Ryan’s photos to create a fast-paced, colorful intro. Adobe Premiere allowed me to seamlessly blend animations with the audio, producing a captivating final product. 💡 Creative Process: The process from brainstorming ideas to final execution involved meticulous planning and innovative thinking. Every project offers a new challenge and an opportunity to learn and grow. Watch the full behind-the-scenes process and see the final result in this YouTube video. One Video Editing Tip: Always focus on the story first. The best edits enhance the narrative and keep viewers engaged from start to finish. 🎥 Transforming Podcasts into Visual Masterpieces I recently had the pleasure of editing a reel for our podcast featuring the incredible Guest Nitesh Karale Sir, known for his engaging teaching style in Varhadi Marathi. This project was both a challenge and a joy, transforming an hour-long podcast into a short, captivating reel. The Process: Using Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop, I condensed the rich content, highlighting the most impactful moments. Dynamic visuals, seamless transitions, and custom graphics brought the essence of Nitesh Karale’s teachings to life. Client Feedback: The client was thrilled with the result, praising the polished, professional reel that perfectly captured the spirit of the podcast. Video Editing Tip: Always focus on the story first. The best edits enhance the narrative and keep viewers engaged from start to finish. 📩 Looking to elevate your content with professional video editing? Today, I came across a new visual design trend that, at first glance, gave me the impression it was from a design-related video, maybe something from Figma or a design podcast. The visuals felt very much in line with the aesthetic typically used in design content. However, when I looked at the channel name, I realized it was an Indian news channel, which I found quite amusing. It was surprising to see a news channel using visuals that didn’t align with their brand or identity. This could be confusing for some viewers, as it shows how our mental models associate certain visuals with specific types of content. What’s ur thoughts on this? 🧐 #design #branding #designtrend

🎥 Behind the scenes - Creating a Case Study Video without Client Involvement How do you create a compelling case study video without directly featuring the client? We just published our first case study video, and I couldn’t be prouder of the team effort! Here’s how we went about it: 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞: We wanted to showcase the incredible success of one of our clients without having them on camera. This meant developing a narrative case study video instead of a customer testimonial. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬: We relied on creativity, thorough research, and narrative storytelling to highlight the client’s journey and the impact. 1. 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 - We chose the classic case study style for the video’s structure - highlighting the challenges, solutions and measurable outcomes. 2. 𝐒𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 - My talented team of writers and editors made sure each sentence flowed naturally. We kept the script concise, on message, and captured the essence of the client’s story. 3. 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 - We used multiple B-rolls, animations, and custom graphics to maintain viewer engagement and visually communicate key points. 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭: The final video effectively showcased our client’s success and the value of our solution, all while keeping the viewer engaged and informed.
