Yesterday, I went to Amsterdam to commemorate my main motivation for wanting to tranform the food system: the animals. This is how many animals we will kill today for food: 900,000 cows 1.4 million goats 1.7 million sheep 3.8 million pigs 12 million ducks 202 million chickens Hundreds of millions of sea animals (It's difficult to give an accurate number for sea animals). The majority of these animals will have been factory farmed. So would have suffered a terrible life as well as an unwanted death. So, it's only right that yesterday I took the time to give remembrance to all the these deaths on National Animal Rights Day. Unfortunately, we humans see big numbers as statistics rather than a tragedy but each animal was innocent yet was sentenced to death from birth. Fortunately, plant-based eating also greatly reduces greenhouse emissions, has health benefits, massively reduces resource use. If this weren't the case, I would still not eat animals. I would not want to be in their situation so why would I put innocent animals in that situation? If you're a vegan, thank you for being part of the change to make a just food system that considers non-human animals too. If you're still eating animals, please take a moment each time you do to consider how neccesary it was for an animal to be killed to feed you. If we all did that, I think a lot fewer animals would be killed for food.

I’m going to say something very controversial for an animal rescue: STOP USING ANIMALS. Stop eating their flesh and secretions. Stop wearing their fur and skins. Stop experimenting on them. Stop using them for your personal entertainment. Stop breeding them. And I’m not just talking about dogs, cats, minks, elephants, and dolphins. I mean EVERY species. This is an extremely controversial post for a rescue organization that has saved cats and dogs from the meat trade in Vietnam. To save dogs AND be against the use of all other species for food, clothing, entertainment, and research is financial suicide. EVERY SINGLE TIME WE TALK ABOUT VEGANISM WE LOSE DONORS. But saving dogs and cats doesn’t give you the right to harm other animals with impunity. Every animal feels. Every animal suffers. Every animal needs protection from humans. If we spoke only of dog meat bans, we’d be rolling in it. The financial struggle would totally end. I know because this organization began as an anti-dog meat organization 11 years ago. We had broad public support, support that quickly waned as I talked more and more about other species, the same species those donors who “loved animals” all paid to torture and kill. We were outright attacked as extremists. We lost our vet clinic because the dog-loving donors withdrew their support from us vegan terrorists. But we will never be an organization that stays silent about the 3 trillion animals on land and in the sea killed mostly by people who say they are against animal cruelty. This entire industry of rescue is screwed if moral consistency something we should be silent about for financial reasons. So let’s turn this around. If you run an advocacy group of any kind and you continue to support the unnecessary suffering and death of trillions of animals with your actions or just your silence, it is YOU who should be ashamed of yourselves. YOUR hypocrisy is what should be condemned, not the moral consistency of vegans in these fields. If people who work for animals are those we are rescuing animals from, we’ve got some very big problems. Let’s make moral consistency the norm, not the exception! #veganfortheanimals #veganism #animalwelfare #animalrights #animaladvocacy #speciesism

This World Vegan Day, read our new blog on where animal rights meet veganism. 🔽 https://lnkd.in/eVX6grVa At Freedom for Animals, we wanted to shine a light on how animals suffer for entertainment, and how if you abstain from eating animal products, maybe it's time to quit zoos, aquariums, and circuses too. Share the message of love and compassion for all animals by sharing this post. 🌎 #FreedomforAnimals #WorldVeganDay #VeganfortheAnimals #Wildlife #AnimalRights #AnimalFreedom #CompassionateLiving #Veganism #Vegan #VeganLifestyle

Veganism is a gradual change, giving businesses time to shift from non-vegan to vegan items. While human rights are important and often taken care of, let's not ignore animal rights. 🌱 #veganism #animalrights #change #humanrights #veganeducation #veganlifestyle #veganoutreach #mumbai #mithibai

🌱 Honored to have spoken at the recent Russian Animal Rights Conference! I discussed how promoting plant-based alternatives can protect animals. Key takeaways: - Abolitionism and why veganism is crucial for ending animal exploitation - How accessible alternatives make it easier to adopt a plant-based lifestyle - The power of mass requests, where our vegan community comes together to ask producers to create new vegan products or veganize existing ones I’m grateful for the engaging questions and conversations that followed. Together, we’re driving meaningful change! ✨ #AnimalRights #Veganism #PlantBased #Sustainability

These are really interesting findings regarding moderate versus radical messaging for animal rights organizations, specifically those focusing on farmed animals and veganism. Thanks Faunalytics, for sharing! "In other words, researchers found that reading welfarist/abolitionist messages made participants more likely to reject arguments for meat consumption, but did not affect (or harmed) their desire to engage in pro-animal behaviors, like signing petitions." Of course, there were significant limitations in the study, but this seems like an area that could be studied further. I'm guessing it would provide some interesting insights for activism and awareness building for other causes as well. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gNNk5zyx

💚💚💚 Choose LIFE 💚💚💚 There’s no moral difference between eating a dog or eating a farmed animal. Most people who eat animals do not want to believe that they are being unkind to animals, but animal cruelty is systemic and legally condoned in animal agriculture. The meat, egg, dairy, and animal testing industries are hell on earth for animals and if you buy meat and animal products, you are funding the worst animal cruelty in the world. The only way you can avoid funding animal abuse is by going vegan. Even if the animals had a “good life” prior to being slaughtered (although 99% of them don’t because they come from factory farms), they all go to the same slaughterhouse where they’re terrified, fight for their lives, and are violently killed. It’s unnecessary and immoral to pay someone to stab an animal to death for you when you can choose to eat plant-based foods instead. If we could all live happy and healthy lives without harming others, why wouldn’t we? History in the Making: Britain to Ban Live Export History is in the making: in a momentous move, Britain banned the live export of animals for fattening and slaughter! This wonderful victory has been years in the making, but dedicated individuals, animal rights groups, and passionate PETA supporters – like you, Alexander – never gave up. Thank you for speaking out for animals and sending a message to the government using PETA’s action alert. Over the years, millions of animals have been crammed onto severely crowded lorries and ships to be exported from the UK to the EU and beyond. They had to stand in their own waste for hours on end, and many died before reaching the destination from hunger, extreme temperatures, or disease. Others perished in disasters like fires or when ships sank – in 2022, more than 1,500 sheep drowned when a live-export ship capsized in the Red Sea. Alexander, this bill prevents animals from being shipped overseas for slaughter, but millions of sentient individuals will still endure a miserable life and a terrifying death right here in the UK. The best thing anyone can do for all animals is to go vegan. Please help stop animals from being exploited for their flesh, eggs, and milk by jump-starting your vegan journey with a pledge not to eat them for 30 days.” Here is the full article: https://lnkd.in/g2h5hQS3.. https://lnkd.in/dwniXU_r
