To all Animal Lovers, I have just received this email: “Hi Alexander, History is in the making: in a momentous move, Britain banned the live export of animals for fattening and slaughter! This wonderful victory has been years in the making, but dedicated individuals, animal rights groups, and passionate PETA supporters – like you, Alexander – never gave up. Thank you for speaking out for animals and sending a message to the government using PETA’s action alert. Over the years, millions of animals have been crammed onto severely crowded lorries and ships to be exported from the UK to the EU and beyond. They had to stand in their own waste for hours on end, and many died before reaching the destination from hunger, extreme temperatures, or disease. Others perished in disasters like fires or when ships sank – in 2022, more than 1,500 sheep drowned when a live-export ship capsized in the Red Sea. Alexander, this bill prevents animals from being shipped overseas for slaughter, but millions of sentient individuals will still endure a miserable life and a terrifying death right here in the UK. The best thing anyone can do for all animals is to go vegan. Please help stop animals from being exploited for their flesh, eggs, and milk by jump-starting your vegan journey with a pledge not to eat them for 30 days.” Here is the full article: https://lnkd.in/g2h5hQS3 Together, we can make a difference ! 🙏

In a heart-wrenching act of cruelty, a Pakistani farmer cut his camel's leg. This shocking incident is a stark reminder of the inhumane treatment animals often endure. Every day, countless animals suffer in silence, victims of neglect and abuse. This camel’s story is just one among many, but it serves as a powerful plea for compassion and change. Imagine the pain, the fear, and the helplessness this gentle giant felt. Animals, like humans, experience pain and emotions. They deserve love, respect, and protection. It's time we stand up against animal cruelty and be the voice for the voiceless. Animal rights are not just about preventing cruelty; they are about fostering a world where all living beings can coexist in harmony. By raising our voices, we can bring about a cultural shift towards kindness and empathy. How You Can Help: Educate: Share this story and spread awareness about the importance of animal rights. Advocate: Support local and international animal rights organizations. Act: Report cases of animal abuse to authorities and support stricter laws against animal cruelty. Together, we can create a world where no animal suffers. Let’s turn our compassion into action. 🌍❤️ #AnimalRights #StopAnimalAbuse #CompassionForAnimals #SaveTheCamels #EndAnimalCruelty #VoicelessNoMore #AnimalWelfare #PakistanAnimalRights #ActForAnimals #CamelCrisis #ProtectAnimals #HumaneTreatment

There are those who are doggedly trying to improve animal welfare from within while others are fighting to transform the whole system. Where do you stand? What kind of future do you want for animals? 😔 "Trust in the RSPCA drops significantly when the public is made aware of undercover investigation footage showing shocking conditions on RSPCA Assured farms - such as animals crammed into factory farms, pens filled with excrement, and animals left to die from disease, injury, starvation and dehydration" 💡 "The RSPCA has a critical opportunity here to listen to public sentiment by dropping the Assured scheme and promoting a plant-based future" 💚 "More than one third of the public agree the RSPCA should support a transition to a plant-based future, indicating society is more ready to make this shift than the RSPCA believes" https://lnkd.in/g-Y9q7iq #animals #animalwelfare #animalcruelty #animalethics #animaljustice #ForCharlie

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) could soon stop promoting meat 😱 Wait, what?! The world's oldest animal protection charity encourages people to eat animals? Yes, it does. The RSPCA Assured scheme misleads shoppers to sell the myth of cruelty-free meat, fish, eggs and dairy. It also contradicts the organisation's own mission statement: "We exist to inspire everyone to create a better world for every animal" 🧐 Every animal, huh? Thankfully, pressure is growing on the RSPCA to end its Assured scheme. Tireless campaigning from animal advocates, notably from Animal Rising and Animal Justice Project, has exposed the public to the routine suffering on supposedly high-welfare farms. For now, the RSPCA is going round in circles trying to justify the injustifiable 🙃 Instead, it should assure consumers that: - the animal on your plate did not want to die. - sentient beings suffered horribly to produce every bite of your meal. - there are alternatives with far less cruelty to animals... namely, plants 🌱 The RSPCA could play a crucial role in the transition towards a plant-based future. As soon as it drops the rotten Assured scheme. 📷 Screenshot from the homepage of the RSPCA website.

Target: Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, India Goal: Ensure animal abusers are held accountable and implement stronger protections for animals used in pilgrimage services. A distressing video shared on the social media platform X shows a donkey collapsing under the heavy burden of carrying pilgrims’ belongings during the Kedarnath Yatra. The incident has reignited discussions about the exploitation of animals in pilgrimage sites, sparking outrage from netizens who demand an end to such cruelty. This video is just one of many examples of the suffering endured by animals on pilgrimage journeys. In 2023 alone, multiple cases of animal abuse were reported in the Rudraprayag district, with donkeys, horses, and other animals being overworked to the point of collapse. Despite some action by the authorities, cases of animal mistreatment continue to occur. Animal rights activists have long advocated for change, urging pilgrims to refrain from using animals for personal benefit. These animals, forced to carry heavy loads through treacherous mountainous paths, suffer immensely due to exhaustion and improper care. Take immediate action.

If you ask some of my colleagues in The Greens/EFA in the European Parliament what the first thing is they think about when they hear "Tilly", the chances are high that it is animal welfare. 🐷🐰🐺🐙 Yes, I am the one who would bring up that topic at almost every Group meeting, making sure that our co-president Terry Reintke does not forget mentioning it when she gives a speech to Commission president von der Leyen and showing to people that this issue is about so much more than just cute animals; it reflects our values as a society. The last mandate promised change for farmed animal welfare in Europe. The Farm to Fork strategy heralded the revision of animal welfare legislation, with four proposals expected by late 2023. However, the disappointment came in December when only one proposal was released—on the welfare of live animals during transport—alongside another on cats and dogs. With the strategic dialogue on the future of agriculture in Europe urging the remaining proposals to be released by 2026,I am rather optimistic that it should be in the Commission's interest to act. Soon. In the coming month, I’ll be intensifying pressure to expedite these proposals, as millions of animals suffer daily. In September, we received encouraging news: the voices of millions of citizens have been acknowledged, and we will soon have a Commissioner for animal welfare. In the upcoming hearing with Varhelyi, I plan to rigorously question him to see if he is genuinely committed to advocating for animals. I’ll also continue fighting against animal testing in Europe and addressing the broader impacts of our society on all animals. This is not only important for the animals, but also for public health and for the environment. I want to make this mandate for animals! 🐾 #OneHealth #AnimalRights #AnimalWelfare

Animal Cruelty: Who to Blame? I conducted a six-month research project on animal cruelty in Pakistan, uncovering the disturbing reality of street dogs being poisoned or shot due to citizens' dislike and rising rabies cases. Despite some shelter homes run by passionate animal lovers, the question remains: are these efforts sufficient? These animals play a crucial role in the ecosystem, particularly in third-world countries like Pakistan, where the value of a human life often surpasses that of dogs. Join the conversation by sharing your thoughts on this pressing issue in the comments section below. Let's delve deeper into the significance of these animals and the impact of their treatment on our society. #research #animals #dogs #cruelty https://lnkd.in/ddPkJT3D

Justice for Animals: Guilty Pleas in Tyson-Contracted Farm Case Following Animal Outlook’s undercover investigation into Jannat Farm—a Tyson-contracted facility in Virginia—the owner has pleaded guilty to two charges of animal cruelty. This comes after the farm manager’s guilty plea last year. Our investigation revealed horrifying abuses of 150,000 birds, including: -Workers throwing, kicking, and violently killing chickens -Birds left to suffer with severe injuries and deformities -Food and water deprivation for up to 52 hours -Filthy conditions with rampant rat activity and decaying corpses These guilty pleas highlight a crucial point: animal cruelty is a systemic issue within the agriculture industry, beyond individual misconduct. Both the owner and manager now face consequences, including suspended sentences and prohibitions from working with animals. This development marks a significant step toward accountability and transparency in animal agriculture.

US friends: the SWIMS Act needs your support! 🐋 You may have heard that the Miami Seaquarium has been ordered to close by April 21, after decades of animal welfare violations and a series of tragic deaths, including famous orca Tokitae (Lolita) last year. Although this is a step forward in ending cruel captive attractions, there are still an estimated 50 whales suffering in captivity across the US in facilities that are unable to meet their needs. The Strengthening Welfare in Marine Settings (SWIMS) Act has been re-introduced by Representatives Adam Schiff, Jared Huffman, and Suzan DelBene, along with Senator Ron Wyden. If passed, this legislation would prohibit the breeding, wild capture, and import or export of orcas, belugas, false killer whales, and pilot whales for the purpose of public display. It would also phase out the public display of whales already in captivity, requiring facilities to transition to a more humane solution. Currently, there is no law protecting whales from being taken from their families in the wild to be held captive in US dolphinariums, or being forced into breeding programmes at the risk of their health to perpetuate cruelty as ‘entertainment’. You can help to ensure a better future for captive whales in the US by urging legislators to support the SWIMS Act! Use this link to send a message to Members of Congress asking them to co-sponsor the Act: https://lnkd.in/ee7Mwmyy
