It is #best_known for the biscuit brand #Parle_G,which is the best-selling biscuit brand in the world, according to a 2011 Nielsen report. Parle Products was #founded in #_1929 in #India by the #Chauhan_family of #Vile_Parle, Mumbai. The #founder was #Mohanlal_Chauhan who hailed from Pardi near Valsad in Gujarat. He moved to Mumbai to make a living and at first, his profession was tailoring. However, it was not profitable, and so he moved into the food business by selling snacks. He ran a bakery making bread, buns, rusks, scones, nankhatai, turnovers, etc. He had five sons - Maneklal, Pitambar, Narottam, Kantilal and Jayantilal. The five brothers worked together under their father. Parle began manufacturing biscuits in 1939, with a license to supply their biscuits only to the British Army. In 1947, when India became independent, the company launched an ad campaign showcasing its Glucose biscuits as an Indian alternative to the British biscuits. The Parle brand became well known in India following the success of products such as the Parle-G biscuits. Apart from the original factory in #Mumbai, Parle has manufacturing facilities at #Kanpur_(Uttar Pradesh), #Neemrana_(Rajasthan), #Bengaluru_(Karnataka), #Hyderabad_(Telangana), #Kutch (Gujarat), #Khopoli (Maharashtra), #Indore (Madhya Pradesh), #Pantnagar (Uttarakhand), #Sitarganj (Uttarakhand), #Bahadurgarh (Haryana), and #Muzaffarpur (Bihar). The plants at #Bahadurgarh and #Muzaffarpur are some of the #largest_manufacturing_plants of #Parle in #India. It deploys large-scale automation for manufacturing of quality biscuits. Just completed an intensive internal audit of 6 tea estates across Upper Assam in 2 weeks! 🍃 When they said it was ambitious to audit estates spread across Dibrugarh and Tinsukia in this timeframe, I knew it would test my limits. But the insights gained were worth every early morning start and late evening review. Key learnings from the gardens: - Each estate has its unique challenges - from workforce management to productivity tracking. There's no one-size-fits-all approach in tea operations. - The wealth of traditional knowledge among garden workers is incredible. Some of their practical solutions to daily challenges aren't in any manual. - Technology adoption varies significantly across estates. The blend of traditional practices with modern systems needs careful balancing. Most valuable takeaway? The importance of ground-level conversations. The best insights often came from informal chats with tea pluckers and factory workers over a cup of fresh Assam chai. Grateful for the cooperation from all estate managers and workers who made this possible. Their dedication to producing some of India's finest teas is truly inspiring.
