Humans are not Machines.

Humans are not Machines.

Humans are "wired" differently.

Humans have multidimensional thinking and can learn and contribute beyond just one skill/job.

Many of us dont realize that simply because we are expected to become an "expert" in a skill or two by the format of our education and the demands of the job.

While we do need experts, and I actively recommend young professionals to pursue PhD and to master specialized skills, but the same time not everyone needs to be a specialist in "one" skill or "domain".

Also, more than being a specialist in one skill, everyone needs to know what skills he/she needs in the next 5-10-15 years to remain relevant.

Even a PhD holder and a Professor would need to think and prepare for this change.

With the adoption and acceleration of #Digitalization, as individual and as organization leaders, #CHROs, #LearningandDevelopment professionals have to realize the fact that there is no cookie-cutter formula for sourcing, hiring, onboarding, training, retraining, retaining the talent of the future. The "jobs" and the "skills" they would need would keep changing.

A complex and burning skills transformation challenge for most organizations.

#FutureofWork, #SkillsTransformation are my regular conversations with business leaders, and #OB/#OD leaders when we discuss #Digitalization/ #DigitalTransformation initiatives in their organization.

To address the skills transformation challenge we have built a method that considers the following aspects:

  • KPIs for a business to remain relevant, sustain, and scale.

  • Digitalization roadmap, driven by the organization's objectives

  • KPIs for a business to remain relevant, sustain, and scale.

  • Digitalization roadmap must address the current vs future state map.

  • Align the skills transformation roadmap with the digitalization roadmap by conducting a skills gap assessment by roles, jobs, and functions, and a skills map for the future (the current vs future state of the skills).

Skills gap assessment and skills map help the organization with the following:

  • what their team member needs to learn, how much to learn, and when to learn.

  • where they must invest and how to restructure the organization and build a building (not everyone needs to go for #GenerativeAI, #DataScience course "today").
