Rethinking Strategic Planning in Complex Times Currently, there is a growing reconsideration of the efficacy of traditional strategic planning methods, with a frequently cited failure rate of 70% for large-scale transformations. Common explanations for these failures often focus on employee resistance and lack of effective leadership engagement at lower organizational levels. However, we believe a crucial issue lies in the failure of these traditional methods to account for the complexity of organizations and the ecosystems in which they operate. These traditional processes typically do not explore the relationships, norms, skills, emotional dispositions and attitudes, and patterns of behavior at play in the present, as well as how it is that systems (read organizations and their ecosystems) actually change. It’s not a bed of roses; it’s earned through commitment and excellence. • Deeper connections: Every interaction during this journey deepened my ability to empathize and guide. The renewal gave me a fresh perspective, making every conversation more meaningful. • Gratitude for growth: This credential isn’t just a title. It’s an opportunity that changed who I am—a gateway to people’s raw emotions, which has been transformational. I hear from senior leaders that increasing bench strength and building a robust and diverse talent pipeline is essential to success...but the development needs of their high potential leaders are highly individual and often a moving target. Coaching meets each person and/or team where they are, and often becomes a leadership learning lab where leadership competencies and mindsets are strengthened in real time, based on the challenges faced in the moment. This kind of learning is sticky, because it addresses real world challenges as well as very real beliefs and emotions that come up in exercising leadership to meet those challenges. In this way, coaching is very much an investment in more skillful, engaged and committed leaders. #futureofwork #womenatwork #leadershipcoaching
