    In order to achieve a high speed of innovation global organisations often attempt to create a new product in one place then replicate it in others – often called Technology Transfer. Talking with leaders of these organisations we find surprise and frustration that their global innovation does not deliver the desired benefit. Exploring further down the organisation we discover that usually these perfectly-designed« processes for rapid innovation ignore the people who will be carrying them out…

    In order to achieve a high speed of innovation global organisations often attempt to create a new product in one place then replicate it in others – often called Technology Transfer. Talking with leaders of these organisations we find surprise and frustration that their global innovation does not deliver the desired benefit. Exploring further down the organisation we discover that usually these perfectly-designed« processes for rapid innovation ignore the people who will be carrying them out. We highlight five key underlying issues and ways of addressing them. We advocate particular care in selecting and training the leader of a global virtual team, and that the organisation sets the scene early so that the project is widely recognized as important.
